Your favourite game ending?

Matthew Smart (Reviewer) posted this on Friday, 20th January 2006, 00:35

Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation for me.

Snake and Meryl (or Otacon if you`re a quitter ;) ) riding off over the ice on the snow-mobile, followed by some lovely video footage of the Arctic scenery, accompanied by great music.

I`m only half-way through the Gamecube remake, but they better not have changed the bloody ending!

God of War on the PS2 also has that rarest of beasts - a really great ending.

Has to be Halo 1, come on from that whole part of the level where you crack the engines core to riding a warthog across the back of the pillar of autumn as the ship is decintigrating, seeing foehammer crash then sprinting to your longsword fighter to escape the explosion that destroys Halo

oh and that little tease of what masterchief really looks like with his helmet off but not quite

ahhh sheer bliss

I agree about MGS the music was so cool I own the soundtrack which is pretty rare

I actually thought the ending to MGS was complete w***. Its just a load of s*** about the nature of humans and so on....`But he was the imperfect clone and he came up trumps` puuuuuuhleaze.......What actually happens when you submit to torture? because I couldnt be arsed playing through it again.

Best game ending/s...ottomh......

Tetris - Getting the space shuttle made it all strangely worth it
Ninja Gaiden - Much the same reason. It was a battle.
SF2 - First time I finished this on the arcade I almost cried with relief.
Deus Ex - So. Many.Endings.
Half Life - I think I was just glad to finish it, to be honest.

There are loads of 16 and 8 bit games somewhere in the back of my mind that im dying to say, but cant *quite* remember.

Oh, for the record, the best opening sequence is Soul Blade on the Playstation.

Any ending I actually get to see! I can`t remember the last game I finished*....

I usually get really close to the end, find the game is question has gotten impossibly hard, then lose interest.

OMFG I am teh casual00oorr!!11!!

* I think it was Shenmue 2

You truly are teh SUXxxx00R!!11!!!1

The last game I can remember that I didnt bother finishing was Mario Sunshine because, quite frankly, it became unbearably s*** about half way through. Oh, and midtown madness 3, because the voice acting made me want to puncture my eardrums with knitting needles. It wasnt really a `Finish` kind of game anyway and I just used OMGHAXX!! to unlock all the cars.

I cant remember the last time I found a game too hard to finish...not that im particularly l33t......well, I am.....after all, Ive finished Ninja Gaiden black on hard....

Sniper Wolf sneaks in when Ocelot isn`t looking and gives Snake a blowjob.

Or maybe Meryl dies and Otacon replaces her at the end of the game. :)

Yeah, yeah - I`ll save the applause for when you finish it on Master Ninja, El Boastino. ;)

Flashback - promised so much, yet Fade to Black delivered so little

Ground Zero Texas - of only to get to the end of the crap acting. Apart from the chick in the red top - I`d hit it.

Most of the Myst games - incredible sense of accomplishment, plus the Peter Gabriel Track at the end of Myst IV is fantastic. (even though the full version + light show with the elements is better)
