Page 1 of Xbox 360 HD Drive - actual release date?

I know that Amazon originally posted 24th Nov, PC World claim 8th Dec and so on and so on.

Does anyone know when the actual release date is, and have you had yours shipped/delivered yet?

according to a gamestation manager that i know, M$ have not yet shipped the units :/ & she disne know whats happening with them.....

And if you head over to the xbox.com forums it would appear that if you hadn`t pre-ordered by beginning of October you ain`t got a prayer of getting one this side of 2007 :(

Had mine pre-ordered within 24 hours of the release date

I was at Memrobilla at brimingham NEC yesterday and saw a few people selling them for £189.99. Wasnt tempted as ill wait till the shops have got them in for £129.99 (theres no really rush) But i was impressed with the amount of HD DVD`s there are now. They were all R1, which im guessing wont work on a UK HD DVD player? But what did impress me was that Superman Returns R1 HD DVD is both HD and normal DVD so you can play in both, now if they did that for all the HD DVD it would be very tempting!!

I still cant see HD DVD taking over DVD, as DVD`s are so cheap and versitile!!

I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago from HMV, and the main thing for me was that I was getting the free King Kong HD disc with my preorder. I`m in no rush for it, I can wait til after Xmas, but what p***es me off is that there is no official news on the release. It`s a bit of a p*** take on Microsofts part.

Oh and Movietyme are shipping them guaranteed for £30 more than the RRP, so if you`ve got money to burn and want to give into their blatant daylight robbery, then you can order from them.

C&VG say it`s out tomorrow, not that that means it is def out tomorrow ;)

they have another story saying it`s out tomorrow, and bigger than a Wii, slow news day I guess!

I read somewhere that the first batch of HD DVD drive will not be region coded, same goes for the movies.
Because most of the movies out now on HDDVD is already out all over the world, there is no reason to do a region lock. BUT a region lock will be made in the near future.
Nothing to worry if the drive it self is not lock isnt it?
