I've still got Civ II on my shelf which I never got around to playing properly.

One of these days I've got to refurbish my Win 98 machine, get a half decent monitor, and play all those games I got back then, thinking I'll get around to them one day.

I am not that keen on 'build a civilisation', build type games, I had enough problems back in the day with rollercoaster tycoon and railway expansionist games. Just got too engrossed in them spending too much time and had to give them up for my sanity.

They were enjoyable at the time, but are very tame compared to modern games. Plus the price of £50 they want for games nowadays is crazy, I need that money for more important things like saving up for my winter fuel bills

Actually, £50 for games now works out cheaper than the £25-£35 I used to pay for PC and Amiga games back in the day, not that I often paid full price.

I wouldn't buy a game now anyway. Download only, and at the whim of whoever has the keys to the server. It's not buying if you don't own it. It's called renting.
