hello, i saw a film way back in the 80s one halloween it was on bbc2 about 12.30pm it was about the mad beast that was in a box under the stairs in a musume and some men found it and opened it, then all hell broke lose, at the end of the film they got the thing back in the box and tossed it into the sea... anyone know what film? or was it a dream???? thanks!! Sounds like you are referring to one of the tales from the collection of five stories on the Creepshow video, the excellent collaboration between Stephen King & George Romero.

Sounds alot like a film called Relic but i think this was made 95-97.

The film is called Creepshow.
