Page 1 of Unwanted DVD
General Forum
I got a DVD for my birthday that I didn`t want. I haven`t unwrapped it yet so. although I admit this is unlikely, is there any place I can take it that will give me back the full price?
in a word, no. Every store I know will want a receipt if you want cash back for it. Most however will exchange the item if it`s a`gift bought from that store`. Perhaps you can get something else?
If it was bought online less than seven days ago, it can be returned to the retailer for a full refund - this is in line with the Distance Selling Regulations.
The previous suggestion (now deleted) of taking it into a specific retailer as they don`t ask for receipts was illegal.
Why so suddenly law-abiding Clayts? Is DVD Reviewer currently under examination for condoning illegal activities or something? I`m sure that before we`ve been able to get away with writing stuff similiar to that in the previous post. There seems to be a bit of crackdown at the moment.
Hey, you should look at some of the stuff in the console section about chipping PS2`s and stuff. I`ve made posts about DivX - isn`t that illegal?
Do I have to provide proof that it was bought from that store before they will exchange it?
Depends on the store. Take a walk around your shops, try `em all. d;-)
For simply exchanging it most stores would happily oblige, as long as the DVD is in resellable condition, i.e. not knackered! You say it`s still sealed, so I would think it`s a piece a cake. Try it. :-)
What DVD is it - I might be willing to take it off your hands.
hang on Ben_F and Anil., that is what I suggested and had my thread deleted coz it is illegal. SO how come your posts are still allowed?

Because you named a specific retail outlet.
Of course, the most logical way of offing this DVD would be to trade it in our Trading Forum or flog it on eBay :-).
