The Young, Crime and Violence

Batavia (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 8th June 2003, 17:18

Where I live, in West London, in a "comfortable" area I see crime and violence daily. I see it in the streets, I see it as I look out my window. Not occasional, this is daily. I have seen muggings on the elderly, a shooting (last week), two vicious stabbings, all unprovoked and all perpetrated by 9 to 19 year olds. Sometimes in gangs, sometimes alone. Car break ins happen several times a day, obvious to all, who turn a blind eye as the morons are so vicious. Not all are drug related, it seems to be greed and total lack of morals and/or feelings for others.
Social workers, etc, give the usual line of "peer pressure" (huh?) or "boredom" (in London, impossible, if you have half a brain). Constantly I ring the police, but on every single occasion they have done absolutely nothing. It is "Clockwork Orange" come to life.
Any ideas on this, people? It is getting very, very scary.

Do a Tony Martin, get yourself a huge shotgun and blast the little f***ers when they come within 10 yards of your front door...

If anything, it`ll clean out the gene pool a bit..

I bet you find that all your neighbours are thinking exactly the same. It`s simple (and a good way of getting to know your neighbours), but you all need to gang up on these tossers, and take video/still pictures of them doing the deeds.

Then hand the lot over to the police, and challenge them not to do anything about it.

You may want to consult your local authority - a similar exercise was carried out on one street in Stafford (and, funnily enough, covered on TV last week !) where everyone was fed up with the antics of a few local yobs. They all took video footage of mindless acts of violence and vandalism, and the dodgy families got booted out of their council homes.

Self-empowerment - no-one is gonna do it for you. If you`re that fed up,. you just have to bite the bullet, talk to your neighbours, get them onside and then coordinate your action.

Unfortunately I have done all the above, to no avail. The police just do not want to know (it took two years to get drug pushers out of here). Most are underage. If they aren`t, they always travel with an underage person to point to them and say "he did it".
In general, though, I am saying that this is happening just everywhere in Britain now, and escalating rapidly.

If the police don`t want to know, then it might be the case that your local paper will be able to raise the profile of the issue - at least to embarrass the cops into tackling the problem.

I am thinking of moving abroad as I can now see no end to it. I have battled on for seven years, and it has only becomne worse, so time to split, I feel. I done my bit.

You just need to get out of west London mate, probably the worst place you could be for crime. Though it is getting worse everywhere. I have my own theories for the reasons behind rise in youth crime in this country, but I cannot be arsed to get into it.

Boredom? Pikey parents?

anyhoo, We`re emigrating to Oz in a few years. It`s easier if you emigrate to NZ first, apparently..
