Inappropriate things to say when tragedy strikes
I couldn`t help creasing up when BBC East Midlands Today interviewed the owner of a caravan showroom, where over £1 million quids worth of mobile homes and caravans were burned to the ground following a huge fire.
Interviewer : "So how do you feel ?"
Caravan showroom owner : "Gutted."
Any other inappropiate things you`ve heard people say at the wrong time ?

RE: Inappropriate things to say when tragedy strikes
I remember singing a chorus of Ding-Dong, The Witch Is Dead! when I heard that the media-manipulating whore Princess Diana had died.
RE: Inappropriate things to say when tragedy strikes
When I worked in a Casino and news of Princess Diana`s death came through to us our pit boss said:
"So what! She doesn`t lose any money in here."
Which I was not impressed with.

Hello, my name is Gyles Brandreth!
RE: Inappropriate things to say when tragedy strikes
Dwight, I`m finding it hard to reconcile your posting in this thread with what you put on the Laura Sadler RIP thread, as follows:
Quote:
Over-reverence for the victims of tragedy is equally as distasteful as the outright disrespect shown by some people on this forum.
I get it, it`s only outright disrespect if it`s someone else saying it, and not you.......
You and Rik should really climb down from your moral high-horses. I have absolutely NO respect for drug-users, whether they are dead or alive, or whether they are occasional or regular users. A waste of a life? Absolutely. Tragic? Not for a second. Play with the traffic, and you`re gonna get knocked over some day.

RE: Inappropriate things to say when tragedy strikes
Who really cares if a young actress from a mediocre drama series indulged in a spot of Charlie? It`s hardly worth getting on your high horse about. You don`t even have any hard evidence to prove that drug-taking caused her death. Do you believe that rumour, gossip and speculation are equally as valid as facts?
As far as I`m aware, she wasn`t an undignified, narcissistic, materialistic, manipulative attention-seeker. Diana was and, unlike the hoards of wailing buffoons, I`m not going to pretend that the end of her fatuous life was some great tragedy.
RE: Inappropriate things to say when tragedy strikes
Dwight, you say I don`t have any hard evidence that drug-taking caused the death of LS. Well, it was reported in yesterday`s Times, and that`s good enough for me (or can you give me a more reliable source to get my news from?).
Where is your hard evidence that Diana was Quote:

The contradiction in your two paragraphs is laughable, and the fact that you value one life so highly over another (despite the fact that, I assume, you never met either of the two individuals) just shows your previous moralistic comments up for exactly what they were - sentimental claptrap.

Mix Man has a point. The media twists things, and if you never met a person then I certainly wouldn`t base my personal opinion of them on a few articles written by a journalist trying to get promoted.
You have to remember that when Diana died, she left two sons behind.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no matter how wrong it is ;-)

Will somebody please think of the children???!!!
There`s a wealth of evidence of Diana`s zany publicity whore antics. Perhaps she should have considered how this might effect William and Harry. Laura, on the other hand, played a fictional character in a bland television drama. We know lots about the `real` Diana, but very little about the real Laura.
It`s hard not to be judgemental about someone who quite blatantly fed stories about herself to our sensationalist gutterpress. However, we only know Laura Sadler`s real name because she had the misfortune to die in unfortunate circumstances. Otherwise, she`d still be a minor character in Holby City.
If you really want to pursue the Druggies Deserve Death discussion, why don`t you start a thread about it, Mix Man?
