If you get the chance have a listen to the Quad 99 CD-P/ 909 power. Stunning. I may be saying goodbye to my MF stuff.

Ha!

I have a Sony TA-AX3 amp - it`s nearly 20 years old, and can kick the s*it out of my uncle`s Marantz 5.1 system!! :)

And your point is? Why the Quote:
"Ha!"
.

I am talking British Hi-Fi not 5.1 old bean.

Do you know the heritage of Quad or Musical Fidelity?

Pip pip,

My mate`s dad has a Quad amp, I`m not too swotted up on the history of the company and such like but it apparently sounded superb.

Never got the chance to hear it in action as it was being constructed when I last saw it. He had two broken models of it and had to replace some of the valves from one with some from the other.

But aye, I would have loved one if it sounded like he made it out to sound!

Currently using a Cyrus 111 and PSX-R but still possess an old Quad 44/405 which I used for many years. Not sure if it is still the case but in the old days the layout ( modules/cables etc ) inside Quad electronics was a work of art and a joy to behold.

My father used to have a Musical Fidelity amp, but he accidently blew it up!!

I do have some British hi-fi gear. I have my father`s old Kef Caprice II speakers and they are excellent - Haven`t rigged them up to my amp (don`t know if it`ll be OK - the amp is rated at 30w RMS) At the moment I`m using my Kef Cresta 1 speakers.

Hugh ,
Between the Quad kit and your old Systemdeck you have a damn fine unused second system, seems a shame someone isn`t enjoying it.

P ;-))

Ahh, the good old days of Musical Fatality.

No the 909 is not a valve amp. That would be the QII Forty Valve/QC24 Pre Amp.
