My stupid drunken thoughts from the other nite - wanna comment?
Right - i was a bit merry the other nite with some friends and, have you ever had one of those moments where you`re deep in thought in your own little head while the whole world is moving around you? Well i had one of those thoughts. I havnt checked it out or anything but sod it, i thought id mention it. ;)
Here goes:
I cannot believe that no one on this planet has invented an engine/vehicle that runs on water. Yes just normal sea water - or even tap water.
If you think about the number of universities/science institutes/colleges/ academics out there in the whole world then surely someone must be doing it or has done it.
If the world supply of petrol is going to run out in 50-100 yrs then surely someone is studying this seeing as this is the most abundant stuff on the planet.
My theory is that someone must have easily invented something like this by now BUT (here it comes).....there will be multi billion £££ corporations (and countries) who would want to put a stop to it because it would put them out of business overnight. If you think about it is the biggest threat to them ever imaginable.
So what they may have done is bought the patents to any inventions and are keeping them top secret until the time is right and obviously either killing the inventor ;) or simply paying them and adding some kind of secrecy contract.
Anyway - that was a completely random thought i had and it sounds stupider the more i write, and some of you may think i have watched conspiracy theory one too many times but hey - i just wanted to promete some discussion................
Think about it...... :/

ps i reckon the same goes for medical cures as well.........

There was a car a couple of weeks ago on Top Gear that ran on sea water.

Well you would still need oil for the lubrication and how do you ignite water,I mean even super heated and under tons of pressure it still does not ignite and burn.
Sea water, the salt the salt! Talk about clogged up, you woudn`t have a petrol tank no it would be a fish tank.. :) :) :)

Well not really - we`d have to wipe the slate clean completely and not even think about it in terms of `igniting` or `petrol`. It would have to be whole new concept of extracting energy out of water surely?? The whole reason humans cannot survive without water is because it must be full of energy?

You woudn`t burn the water, you`d use the hydrogen in it, which I believe thats what the car on top gear did.
looked quite nice too.

Engines that run on water are not new. The idea has been around for a long time.
And how about this; a car that runs on air http://www.theaircar.com/

Ok - so theres the proof in the pudding - all these great inventions exist but why have none of them taken off??? This is where the conspiracy theory bit comes into it, all these big companies should be running scared of these ideas becaue the oil industry and middle eastern countries would be put out of business overnight.......

I`ve looked at this a wee bit at uni, so i`ll try and and help but i await correction from those of you who have already finished being educated!
The next step in engine power is gonna be fuel cells, which will run on hydrogen that will more than likely be taken from water. So what you thought of is kind of already happening, as everyone else has also shown :)
The thing is, almost all of the funding for the research and development for fuel cells is coming from the multi billion pound corporations you talk about (i think shell and BP are two involved???), as the first company who cracks the fuel cell will make even more money than they did from oil. If you think about it, investing in R&D of the next fuel source and making sure you`re there when it becomes available is a good way of covering the losses created from the decline in the oil industry that will be generated.
Of course this could all be bollocks!

Neiliboy, you`re not a Ben Elton fan by any chance? Because one of his books has a similar plot to your drunken musings ;) :D
