Page 1 of 5.1 speakers what do i need?
General Forum
Due to a lack of cash, and the spectacular success of my attempts at building hi-fi loudspeakers (I just bought the cones from Celestion and built my own cabinets for perfect sound and very little cost) I`m thinking about building my own surround sound speakers for the other 3.1 of the 5.1 setup
can anyone tell me the approximate sizes, rms, impedance etc of cones and the right sized cabinets to build a set?
RE: 5.1 speakers what do i need?
The cones should be as big as those used in "99" ice creams, and the cabinets should be as big as coconuts or your head, whichever is easier.
Hope this helps!

Nice project, building them yourself...
Well, if I was doing it, I would `consult` other peoples specs, i.e:
http://www.videologic.co.uk/ProductInfo/DigitheatreTecSpecs.htm
And there`s the SCAN AV6 which I have got, the sound quality is superb, although like the SCAN SC2000 it has a couple of problems I`m trying to get them to sort out. Tech specs should help though:

You should find much more on the net, can`t think of any others at the mo.
Good luck

Londonbabe, if you build something that`s good I`ll be in the market to purchase a system if you make it cheap enough, good luck.
Le borne you are a complete muppet !

...and when was the last time you built a set of speakers, you "bumcrack wanderer"?
Hope this helps!
