One For Jimbo/Troll-Macrovision 3350

Oh wise ones, your comments are requested. Is Macrovision not present on all DVDs? I was intrigued to see what a recording from the LG looked like and tried five minutes of `The World Is Not Enough` and the freebie `Dinosaurs`. Lo and behold they were both perfect on video. Not what I was expecting at all. Any ideas why?
As a matter of interest I read in What Video & TV that Macrovision doesn`t work on RGB output.

Not all, but most major releases, I certainly would expect `The World Is Not Enough` to be macroed. How exactly have you got your kit connected up?

Hi Troll. I just used scart leads, LG `To TV` to VCR scart IN, VCR scart i/o to TV.Maybe a daft question, but have you tried recording from your LG? BTW mine is plain vanilla from Dabs, purchased 1-2 wks after you got yours. Maybe it was all a dream & I`ll get out of the shower soon :)

I have tried recording The Matrix and that shows the dreaded Macrovision. My LG is connected via RGB SCART to my TV`s first socket and my video is connected by composite SCART to my TV`s second socket. I have even tried using my TV`s copy-though facility as I had heard that may defeat macrovision, but no joy.

Try some other titles to see if they work. Also, how old is your VCR? Some oldish ones aren`t affected by Macrovision.

Yep, the brightness kept fluctuating every 2-3 seconds.

Sigh....go on then..ask away! ::grin::

>"Is Macrovision not present on all DVDs? "

Nope, just on the vast majority.

>"tried five minutes of `The World Is Not Enough` and the freebie `Dinosaurs`. Lo and behold they were both perfect on video. Not what I was expecting at all. Any ideas why?"

Yeah, If I remember correctly, these two titles don`t have macro on them..99% sure on the Bond movie, and Troll could check out "W.W.Dino`s" for ya.
And as posted above, some older VCR`s (particularly Fergusons) don`t recognise the macro signal.

>"As a matter of interest I read in What Video & TV that Macrovision doesn`t work on RGB output."

Horsebananas!! Total crud!! It works on any output that has been enabled within the player.

Oh, and that "What Hifi" review of the 370?
Wonder where they were quoted TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY QUID for it!!
Show`s how daft they were if they were gonna pay £41 more than a major retailers price! lololol

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
