RE: Internet Explorer 6 is out

The following was pulled from http://www.retrogames.com/082001.html. Don`t know if it applies to ie6 final but it maybe worth checking.

Internet Explorer warning - Offtopic, but important enough to warrant a "heads-up" post here: Microsoft`s Service Pack 2 for Internet Explorer 5.5 will remove "plugin" functionality from IE. Plugins are also disabled in IE6 betas. Reasons for this vary from licensing issues with a company claiming a patent on embedded browser applications, to Microsoft`s feud with Sun and Java. Regardless of the reason, installing Service Pack 2 will break IE`s plugins, including the popular Quicktime movie plugin. The only way currently to restore this functionality is to completely reinstall IE from the original CD. This removal of features is deliberate - an attempt to drive developers away from Java (which MS doesn`t own or control) to ActiveX (which they do). FWIW, ActiveX is responsible for the vast majority of those annoying email viruses the last couple of years.. :)

RE: One For Jimbo/Troll-Macrovision 3350

Well thats burst my bubble Jimbo :-( And just as I was getting mildly excited! Thanks for the feedback gang.

RE: One For Jimbo/Troll-Macrovision 3350

Hi Troll. I just used scart leads, LG `To TV` to VCR scart IN, VCR scart i/o to TV.Maybe a daft question, but have you tried recording from your LG? BTW mine is plain vanilla from Dabs, purchased 1-2 wks after you got yours. Maybe it was all a dream & I`ll get out of the shower soon :)

One For Jimbo/Troll-Macrovision 3350

Oh wise ones, your comments are requested. Is Macrovision not present on all DVDs? I was intrigued to see what a recording from the LG looked like and tried five minutes of `The World Is Not Enough` and the freebie `Dinosaurs`. Lo and behold they were both perfect on video. Not what I was expecting at all. Any ideas why?
As a matter of interest I read in What Video & TV that Macrovision doesn`t work on RGB output.

RE: Anybody Used Britannia Mail Order Club

Same experience as Mark, but this was years ago so I guess their MO hasn`t changed. I had 3 debt collection agencies on my back after writing to cancel membership several times. Those discs of the month just kept on coming. Also had a snotagram from Britannia accusing me of being underhand & deceitful among other things. Help from Citizens Advice Bureau finally got rid of them. AVOID!!

RE: PLEASE VOTE! your opinions count..time to let the Aiwa rest

Now you`re just being silly !

Ah the good old Beeb B, didn`t you just love being able to put 6502 assembler straight into BASIC code?

Forgotten all about Chuckie Egg, what a mad platformer that was

RE: PLEASE VOTE! your opinions count..time to let the Aiwa rest

My Amiga is better than your Atari ST - who cares about the midi port.

Hope I`m in the right area, get a bit confused with message boards and people can be soo arsey about off topics.....

RE: LG 3350 Hack - Question

Oh joy !! Thanks for that info Jimbo, all we need now is a macrovision killer and our happiness will be complete :)

LG 3350 Hack - Question

Does anyone know if the remote hack remains in force once enabled?
Or...does it work for xx occasions before locking?

If IT Troll is looking in...mine also manufactured Jul 2000 and it looks like the hack is valid. COdE shown on LCD, but that`s as far as I took it as I have no R1 discs to try out.

Slight smell wafting over from your supplier, perhaps?

RE: troll lg3350

It might be worth giving Dabs a ring about availability. The 3350 is so good my order went `missing` while in the hands of Parcel Force.
Dabs sent another out on 20th Nov when their site was showing no stock. It arrived on 23th Nov. Whoopee!!

Hey Troll, neat site...wonder what you could produce if you really put your mind to it?

RE: LG 3350E Review - Come get some!

Thanks for your info Troll. I was tempted after reading the review in DVD Shopper (rated 90% overall) and your posting has just tipped me over the edge.

The best price I have found is £189 inclusive at www.dabs.com. R2 only though.
