Hi all. I`ve just had my house insurance renewal and it`s gone up from £156 last year to £354 this year :o. I`m now looking around for some cheaper quotes. Anyone know of any decent comparison sites that don`t hassle you with emails every day for the next month after you get a quote from them?
Cornhill seem to be the cheapest for me now, i was with Royal and Sun Alliance but they wanted £425 last year, a year on year increase of £150. I got the same cover from Cornhill for £200, thats combined house and contents insurance.
This is going to sound vague, but when mine was due in June, I did a search under google/alta vista & found a website that gave 4 or 5 quotes at once.
One of which followed through with a call to the contact number I gave & offered another 10 or 20% discount if I applied today.
Cant give any more details sadly but it worked out cheaper than direct line.

Gazab You haven`t explained and no one has asked(unless I`ve missed something) but why has the premium gone up so significantly?
Pete :/
Mine went up this year for no apparant reason - I hadn`t made a claim or anything, and after spending a day at work going through all the online quotes (well, you don`t expect me to waste my own time doing that?) I found Norwich Union to be the cheapest.
RE: House insurance sky high
goto www.thisismoney.co.uk and follow the links - i got a great deal after looking on here - if you want just put a[at]moc.b in the email box - you can then go direct to the website of the cheapest and give your realinfo.... :D

RE: House insurance sky high
I always phone Lloyds Insurance, they`re pretty cheap, and search several companies. I change mine nearly every year, and often get a free gift if I stick with Lloyds but switch companies within it.
I saved nearly £100 switching my building and contents insurance to Barclays :D :D
Hi Pete, i`ve no idea why they (CIS) raised the premium, i`ve not claimed. Thanks for all the replies from everyone, i`ll let you know who does the best deal for me.

Hi Gazab,
I always use pricerunner they ask a range of questions then find 4 or 5 policies that fit your needs and get the best prices for you, first ime I used them ours went down from over £200 to £120 can`t complain at that at all.
All the best
Ger.
