Page 1 of New Year`s Honours - Why no mention of David Jason

Just skimming through the "celebs" mentioned in this New Year`s Honours, I could find no mention of David Jason. Personally I find it a travesty that this very talented actor did not get an award.

it`s about time the whole honours thing was re-thought and possibly stopped they seem to hand em out to anyone except those who really do deserve em. why should david jason be given an award he`s an actor it`s his choosen career what has he done?? apart from had a bloody good life out of it i like to think i`m a damn good plumber and have hopefully helped more people without them knowing it should i get a gong for public service`s ...nah thought not ;)

tho it`s reet grand to see someone like fred dibnah get a award bet by end of the week he`s melted it down and made summat` good owt o eet

Why the hell did the tennis player get an honour. And also the rugby squad. I think these awards should only go to the man and woman in the street who do things for charity and the community. Also members of all the emergency and medical services who go that one step further than above their call to duty.

And me cos I`m a nice guy. :D

I agree that the whole honours thing needs overhauling, but the point I was trying to put across was that David Jason has given a lot of pleasure with his varied acting talents. i.e. Open all Hours, Darling Buds of May, Porterhouse Blues, and not forgetting OFAH and of course Frost. Compare that with the likes of Chris Tarrant, nice bloke and that but I mean an OBE for being a game show host and DJ ?

I believe people should be honoured for bravery, services to the community, etc, but not "celebs" who merely recite someone elses words, or grown men/women who are "adept" at hitting/kicking a bloody ball, for goodness sake! Hardly rocket science.
It used to be for "above and beyond the call of duty".

They did mention on the news report earlier that the reason they were told Tim Henman is getting an awards was to "Add some interest". So not for tennis then! :/

Absolute Joke. Next they`ll be giving them out in packets of Kellogg`s Corn Flakes.
OK, so that may be a little over the top, but still...

As a bit of a royalist I am all for the honours, but it is becoming rather silly.
