I just thought of a feature that would rock major ass if used on DVD players. Here goes:

Whenever I listen to music on my PC, wether its MP3s or CDs, I use WinAmp and its visualisation plug-ins. You know, the things that make purty colours in time to the music. They are really trippy.

Why cant you get a DVD player with a similar feature built in? It would be the ultimate blend of audio and visuals! I mean, its just so boring having a blank screen when I listen to CDs through my player.

I know that the Dreamcast can make some funky disco lights when you play CDs and that there were similar programs available for the Playstation but it would rock so much more on a DVD player.

Are any developers doing this?

There`s a player that displays a spectrum analyser on screen when you play audio CDs but I don`t know if it`s available in the UK. It`s the Amoisonic DVD8506 (http://www.amoisonic.gr/en/index.html)

That looks like a really nice player actually, but it probably costs a fair bit Oh and its very Greek too.

Anyway, that is the kind of thing I am talking about - only bigger, better and more complex. This kind of thing would be really cool to have on in the background when you are hanging out listening to music. I would really like to see something like this in some more players. Yup.

I always wanted a plugin for winamp that did the bubbles like you used to see in the cinema back in the old days. Never found one tho. :/

Well you could make it yourself using the AVS studio that comes with it.

Well its a good idea, but I would settle for a way to play CDs on my SCAN SC2000 with the screen saver going or even a blank screen - better than watching the static DVD logo burn itself into the tube.

I need to use the TV if I want to `process` the sound.
