McDonalds- I think "I`m lovin` it"

wadzee (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 13th March 2004, 18:52

:/ well, out of pure madness, i decided to try one of McDonalds salad things today, and quite surprisingly, it was delish! AnNyone else tried them yet? Anyone been persuaded by their healthy advertising? hehe 8)

Also they have banned Supersized menus over in the USA, trying to promote healthy eating i guess... Is this purely marketing? Image? Competition against BK & KFC? Or do you think they actually want to promote healthy eating? :/

Not a chance. There has been a lot of articles/tv programmes about people eating fatty foods and being fat. McDonalds is being blamed as if it were guilty of a crime. So they want to appear as if they care, imho ;)

I don`t mind McDonalds if I`m in a rush. I`ve been once this year, if that`s any sort of guide. And I`m not fat.

You mean it`s made in Sidcup ? :D We sometimes use Wendy`s when in the U.S. they`ve always done a salad bar I think.

That McDonald`s salad thingy with dressing has more fat content than a burger!

It`s a real shame that McDonald`s and KFC are offering these `healthy` options because such concessions imply that their customers aren`t responsible for the damage they inflict upon themselves. I predict that McD`s salads will be as successful as low/no alcohol beer and low tar cigarettes.

People enjoy damaging themselves! Just regard it as a cull. :)

Because of the current discussions in Government about obesity, McDonalds are trying to avoid as much flak as possible by introuducing these new healthy options. I`ve been writing an article this week about obesity and its links to fast food advertising. Apparently, 9% of children are obese, double the figures of ten years ago. There are talks of banning advertising fast foods to children, and in the extreme banning it all together on television.

McDonalds are having a tough time in the US with litigations, and it`s reflecting on the company worldwide. By the end of the year Supersize meals will be no more...

Hurrah! ;)

But the dedicated gorgers will still be able to buy several 99p portions from the special offers menu.

Freedom of choice and personal responsibility just don`t work! When will the government legislate against the terrible damage that we`re allowed to do to ourselves?

Try the BK chicken-salad instead (skip the dressing if you wanna go low-fat).
That is actually VERY tasty :)
