Obscure bands

ebony.branch (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 21st March 2004, 08:13

Flicking through my old vinyl yesterday and wondered if many others liked (or had heard of) some of the relatively obscure bands I used to be so keen on. For example:

Inner City Unit

The Golden Horde

Daisy Chainsaw

Vicious Rumour

Cock Sparrer

Ruptured Dog

Sinister Ducks

Cardiacs

Dubious Brothers

Well?

I saw The Cardiacs live a couple of times - they were pretty unique!

I remember Daisy Chainsaw too - one hit wonders....

I know they arent obscure, but i used to love G n R and was ashamed by their recent gigs (with a guitarist called `buckethead` who, um, wears a KFC bucket on his head.....).

And i dug out an old Neds Atomic Dustbin cd out the other day.

My Bloody Valentine are great, their best album was Loveless (1991) by a slight margin. They are quiet popular but still fit into that obscure catagory in my opinion.

EDIT: I also hear they are reforming (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) :D

Sinister Ducks - Everyone thinks they`re such cute little things!
Manged to see these in Northampton (home town of Alan Moore and David J) many moons ago - splendid!
Dubious Brothers - absolutley great band - supported New Model Army in the early 90`s.

Gaye Bykers On Acid - not so obscure, but sadly missed by the masses. The same, I suppose can be said of Pop will Eat Itself.

Live a life you love, use a god you trust, and don`t take it all too seriously

A band I was once in played a gig at the Bull & Gate in Kentish Town, where a very early incarnation of My Bloody Valentine were the support act.

At another gig we were supported by Spacemen 3, featuring Jason Pierce who went on to form Spiritualized...

I used to play in a band, we supported Chumbawumba before they got "famous" with that
mad lager lager song. We also did a carnival with Credit to the Nation before they had
a chart hit.
