Extras on my dvds! Lots more! l watched my copy of THE ROCK: CRITERION COLLECTION and believe this is the way ALL dvds should be produced.
l dont think its a unreasonable request. I mean look what goes into making a film, and how much is edited or deleated. Well l want to see what was taken out. l want to see every teaser and trailer made, l want interviews, features, making of`s, commentaries. l want to see the lot!
Bryan Singer said he made a video diary during X-MEN so where is it? l dont want to be kept waiting for collectors edition, it should be standard that every dvd is packed solid with extras. All should be two disks!
FIGHT CLUB, GLADIATOR, SE7EN:SPECIAL EDITION (R1) these are fine examples of what should be the norm for dvds. Or companies could bring out two versions at the same time. A movie only and a extras disk, droping the pirce for the "movie only", not increaseing the price for the collector version!
I think that alot of films that receive the `special edition` treatment are more often than not pretty useless films in the first case. I mean, X-Men? Who was exec producer on that, Bernard Matthews?
It`s often the worthwhile and truly classic films that get the short change treatment on their dvd release.
Look out for 2 disc sets. they are the ones with lots of extras. Eg any given sunday, T2, T1, ID4, are good ones that i got. Not every film is that good. Many are flops at the box office so studios see no reason to produce a lot of materials for it. Sci-Fi/Action Movies are the ones to watch out for They have plenty of extras. Sci Fi is so different than normal stuff so its common sense to show in detail how they make it. Jp and JP 2 have good extras as does the matrix and some of the alien films. Dissapointed with starship troopers thoough brilliant movie brill effects but jack all extras
Okay, so you want to see EVERYTHING. Why?

Tell you what, let Barry Norman keep the extras, I`ll settle for a cheaper DVD.
I mean three different trailers, and what the director had for breakfast, who needs it!
Sod the extras, just give me a flawless transfer and crisp 5.1 surround sound.
After all, the main reason to buy a DVD is the film on the disc - if you appreciate film like me, and aren`t some teenage bum who just buys films for extras.
Extras are useful and fun but the quality of the picture and the sound are what dvd was made for. Some titles have been disapointing so more should be done for better pics and sound
I agree with Unbreakable. Extras are cool - if you like the film, then the extras just adds to the experience. All the great stuff like the extra scenes that were taken out, interviews, how they did things, storyboards etc. You just have to see how popular T2: Ultimate Edition is to see that people must be interested in the additional stuff.
People like Bear or Bacon Joe, well they`re either cheap skates (who`d probably settle for half the film if they could get it at half the price) or are just soo dumb ass that they wouldn`t understand the movie making process - so they probably wouldn`t appreciate it anyway - but then again I can see why they`re not too fussed since there`re really isn`t much need for extras on their porn collection ;-)

LOL at _007!
Glad you see the things same way as l do!
And as for teenage bum comments, BACON DOH, l`m married with children and approaching my 30`s. l don`t buy dvds for extras, but surely any extras help "appreciate film" as you say!
Bacon couldnt save his bacon he has been banned.
:-)
turned out nice again!
