RE: magnolia. interesting or boring?????????
Watch this film at your peril, I was going to suggest only ever watching this if you were ever bored out of your skull but this would just make it worse.
Save yourself the renting fee, buy some paint and watch it dry ;-)

RE: DDD House - R3 retailer
Don`t worry, you won`t have any problems with DDDHouse - they are very good. Although I don`t think marking `gift` on a bulk order of 1000 dvds is gonna make much difference ;-)

RE: JOHN WOO IS OVER PRAISED (yes, I know I`m in the minority)!
>>I don`t know how you can say a better tomorrow is pants, you should watch the second one aswell to as it continues the stoy, and the second one has some great action in it.
Oh please! Instead of following the herd - why don`t YOU tell me what`s good about it? The acting is bad, the action is bad, the story is bad, the dialogue is bad, erm what`s left?
It`s the usual case of goodies don`t run out of bullets but baddies do (just as they`ve aimed properly as well!), the goodies only get shot in the shoulder - which doesn`t hurt of course! And the fact that the main guy gets shot in the stomach by a shotgun (and again later in the film!) carries on running and then on the scene where he falls down the hill you can see that the red dye on his jacket has dried up and they didn`t even bother putting any on his shirt - maybe it was the jacket that was bleeding?

RE: Richer Sounds Rule!
Hay MagicMan,
What`s the chance of any more DV535`s coming in - I guess there`s even less chance of any being available online as they`re cheaper. Also are they RCE compatible. Failing that whats the next best thing for that price range.
Thanks.
RE: JOHN WOO IS OVER PRAISED (yes, I know I`m in the minority)!
Funny you should mention this! While I thought Face Off and MI:2 were not crap but then not good, I thought I`d check out `A Better Tomorrow` as people kept mentioning how good it was. Well lets just say don`t waste your time it`s pants although not as bad as `Heros Shed No Tears`.
While before I was eager to check out `Hard Boiled`, `The Killer` and maybe `Bullet In The Head`, I`m in no hurry now!

I thought the Captain went down with the ship? ;-)

RE: MAGNOLIA....AGONY OR WHAT ?
>I was also waiting for some exciting scene when the dramatic music continuously kicked in, but this never happened.
I know exactly what you mean! Every time the dramatic music kicked in I`d quickly snap out of unconsiousness hopeing that I`d finally reached the end of the movie and that it`d be a great ending that might save the rest of the film but neither happened, this continued a few more times until from nowhere the credits rolled in and I was saved ;-)
With the general opinion here of this film I keep thinking maybe I`m talking about another film, either that or I completely missed the point. I was (very slightly) tempted to check out the extras on the DVD to maybe shed some light on why this is so good but to be honest I really don`t care anymore and I hope I never have to come across this film again!

RE: MAGNOLIA....AGONY OR WHAT ?
I watched this film yesterday and I completely agree with jaxon, this film is utter crap. I can`t believe I wasted 3 hours of my life watching it, though it felt like 3 days! The first 3 minutes was good (am I using the number 3 too often?) and it went down hill from there - rapidly! It`s sooo slow and pointless, the dialogue is very boring and after about 2 hours of agonizing bordem I was very tempted to just turn it off and return it to the rental store, but I sat it out till the end not that it made any difference.
I find it very interesting though how some people can love it while others hate it - I guess it`s like marmite!

Yeah Amazon.com (I had a coupon that needed using ;-).

RE: a bit confused
>As I understand it, the way PAL ad NTSC are encoded makes these time differences apparent.
Yep, PAL runs at 25fps and NTSC runs at 30fps. So there will be a time difference on identical films in the two different formats. However in the case of Ninja Scroll the R2/R4 is slightly cut.

RE: NAPA VCD MP3 PLAYER
>i have just bought the NAPA DAV 310 which is the upgraded model of the 309 which will play cd-rw and has antishock for cda and mp3,
>but it hasn`t arrived yet. i hope to prove you all wrong.
I`m sure you will Boris! Since anyone who thinks the Himage is great will probably think this is the best MP3 player available! ;-)

RE: Himage 2290???
>i had five before i got one which didn`t cock up the sound
You went back to exchange the Himage 5 times! Man, you must be a bit slow upstairs! ;-) Most people would`ve realise how crap it was after the 1st or 2nd attempt! ;-)

RE: a bit confused
shadowrun,
I own the R1 version which is the uncut one. However the R2/R4 version only have about 2-3 minor cuts (I think a couple of ninja star shots and the rape scene maybe?) so there isn`t much difference but if you really want the uncut one then go for the R1 version - as usual!

RE: Himage 2290???
>p.s. the himage 2290 rules
LOL! don`t kid yourself Boris! It`s a load of s*** (packaged in a small silver box!) ;-)
And before anyone get`s too excited (don`t want you to soil your pants) that wasn`t a flame but just my honest opinion of the himage - dont believe me? then buy one ;-)

RE: Does anyone have Hitachi 505 for sale? :-)
>probably will be selling as soon as I have got it:)
I hope it will be worth the hassle - chasing up the PS2 then chasing up the cashback (if either ever arrive of course) only to sell it and make a few quid!

RE: Sixth Sense, The Beach and Cherry Falls - £9.99 at Dixons

LOL, that pretty much sums it up, you have no need to see the film now ;-)

RE: Sixth Sense, The Beach and Cherry Falls - £9.99 at Dixons
>is it better or worse than scream are u sure its not worth getting? I think i might check it out tomorow
Personally I think it`s worse than scream, but then I didn`t think scream was great just ok. Although it`s not bad I certainly wouldn`t buy it, but thats just my opinion you might not agree. I only buy DVDs that I like and are worth watching over and over again. My advice would be to rent it first, but if you loved scream you might have a higher opinion of it that I did.

LOL! His only experience is with little boys! Get rid of the sick bugger!

Seen it - yes, worth buying - no.

RE: Truly bargain bucket...
>Hey fac63 - your mother has a "bargain bucket" - tee hee!
Yep, very true but isn`t she only place you can get your "bargains" ;-)

RE: l want MORE!!
I agree with Unbreakable. Extras are cool - if you like the film, then the extras just adds to the experience. All the great stuff like the extra scenes that were taken out, interviews, how they did things, storyboards etc. You just have to see how popular T2: Ultimate Edition is to see that people must be interested in the additional stuff.
People like Bear or Bacon Joe, well they`re either cheap skates (who`d probably settle for half the film if they could get it at half the price) or are just soo dumb ass that they wouldn`t understand the movie making process - so they probably wouldn`t appreciate it anyway - but then again I can see why they`re not too fussed since there`re really isn`t much need for extras on their porn collection ;-)

RE: Region 2 better than Region 1 ?!?!?!?!
>It all boils down to how patient you are, in my opinion.Yup.
Not if the R1 version is better quality, has more features and is cheaper. In which case patience has nothing to do with it!

RE: foot and mouth!
>>If you buy something from abroad you are taking money away from your government which needs to take a percentage of that money to ensure roads are maintained, the health service can look after you when your ill, etc, etc.
I think there are enough taxes for health service and the like and as for road maintenance I`m sure the crazy tax on petrol more than covers for it not to mention road tax of course.
Nah I think they probably spend import tax on more useful things such as the Millennium Dome and dodgy bridges that won`t stop wobbling when more that one person steps onto it.

RE: need help choosing a dvd player
Actually RicherSounds are very good, unfortunately the Himage is not! No offense to Boris (at least not until I rid the world of him once and for all!) or Shaun but I really do think it`s pants!
Ok so the price is good and it`s small but that`s where it`s good points end.
It has no scart (but the worst is yet to come) from what I`ve seen of the thing it skips like little red riding hood while playing movies and that`s if it recognises the DVD - you may have to reinsert the disc and try again. Rewind and Fast Forward don`t always work and sometimes the thing just locks up. It pixellates on one DVD I saw and the menu`s are just crap along with the remote control. Like I said I don`t want to upset anybody but that was my impression of it when I was checking it out. It`s possible that some of the problems may have been caused by the faulty player, but I doubt that, and besides the player is just too bare-bones.
Just my honest opinion, take or leave it.

RE: Anyone seen a Cyberhome 212 for sale?[MULTI REGION]
Try RicherSounds, they`re a very good company with great prices and excellent customer service. I think they do them for about £120.

RE: Who let this monster into my front room?
>Well thats one way of lookin at it, or you could just enjoy watching your films like most other people.
LOL! You certainly wouldn`t be included in the "most other people" catagory as I doubt you have a player long enough to watch anything on! You must get your entertainment from traveling to and from the shops wandering what excuse you`re gonna use next.
So what`s the player count upto now Sammy? ;-)

RE: Gladiator R1 on Sammy 709
Yeah man that really sucks (that`s my american impression for the day!).
It`s beginning to feel like the PC state of affairs. i.e. "oh my DVD player is too old it can`t run the latest DVDs!".
They should sort it out, I don`t know the ins and outs of it all but they should have a rigid standard that the discs and players should adhere too, then there wouldn`t be so many problems.
