Doh!I`ve just worked out why Warner Bros cinames have changed its name to VUE!
It all makes sense now i had always wondered why they are changing their name (as thats the only cinema here in Cambridge) but VUE stands for Vivendi Universal Entertainment. The company who i think bought WB? not sure but anyway i thought i`d share that with you!

Afaik Universal bought Vivendi, nobody bought WB, they are still owned by themselves.

I thought Warner Bros was owned by Time-Warner. Isn`t MGM the only Hollywood studio still not owned by anyone else?

The name change came about because Warner Village Cinemas were sold last year to another company (SBC International Cinemas - see here) and the rebranding with a whole new name is just taking effect.

Frankly I think it`s a miracle anybody knows who owns the cinemas in this country. The chains have changed hands so often over the past twenty years. Every so often one of the Studios buys them up, then asset strips them when they realise there`s no money in cinemas. Turn the bloody things into car dealerships and let`s just have a handful of proper decent showcase cinemas and do day/date DVD releases with the UK premiere.
