DVD Reviewers fighting cancer ! PLEASE READ
DVD Reviewer has decided to pitch in with Oxford University and UD (United Devices) to use spare CPU cycles to fight cancer - If you hadn`t noticed it on the news page yet, there is a page giving all the information about this effort:
http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/admentor/admentorredir.asp?id=66&way=ban
Simply put, the project puts a small program on your PC which crunches drug data. It will work when your PC has spare capacity which you`re not using. If you have a PC on an internet connection, this is for you !
To download the client, go to
http://members.ud.com/download/gold/
and to join the DVD Reviewer team:

Go on, join your DVD buddies and make a difference !

OK, lets look at this for a minute...
I have a P3 500...a Voodoo3 card freeing up the system graphics memory.
I have 14 gig of H/d, and 256 meg of RAM.
My system resources are never more than 25%-ish used..
Does this mean I can make a reasonably significant difference here without compromising my sytem performance?
Come on Dan, gimme an answer! lol
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!
RE: DVD Reviewers fighting cancer ! PLEASE READ
Well Jimbo, your processor leaves a little bit to be desired, but your memory and disc space should help bring the rating up - Any cpu cycles you can offer would of course be gratefully received.
As far as I can tell, the client software runs on a really low priority, and doesn`t affect system performance - I have serious Counterstrike friends who leave it on, and believe me they would complain if it had any effect on their game...
Besides, you can always disable or exit the client if you want to do something that requires ALL your meagre resources ;-)
My work PIII-866 crunches the data pretty quick, but my laptop PIII400 is noticeably slower.
Join us anyway !

I know `remedya` very well. He has it running on his own laptop at home, and uses the work laptop all day for it too. I always wondered what those tax partners in my old firm did all day in their plush offices ;-)

Welcome to the team Jimbo !
How about getting yourself catalogued Dukey ?!
Mark - I`m surprised he`s making those results on a laptop, but there you go. My laptop runs it like a DOG.
