Raising objections to a planning application in a neighbouring county

OK, this is the scenario. A farmer near to where I live but in the next county wants planning permission to change the use of his land from agricultural and forestry to recreation and leisure. The folks in my village which is relatively peaceful and quiet have it on good authority that the "recreation and leisure" will amount to so called training in the use of quad bikes and the like plus we believe, motor cycle scrambling. Now here`s the rub, the land is well away from habitation in the farmer`s own county,(Shropshire) BUT is much nearer to us here in Clwyd and we reckon we will be plagued with noise and increased traffic. I have a feeling that the farmer is exploiting the fact of his geographical location and hopes he will get planning permission for change of use. However, that does not alter the fact we in our village will be the ones to suffer increased noise etc. My question is this: Is it possible to raise objections with Shropshire County Council even though we live in Clwyd ? I can`t see Clwyd Council being very interested ("nothing to do with us mate ). What do you reckon folks, have we got a case ?

I don`t know the legal ins -outs of this but surely you should still be able to raise an objection if its close by. Alas common sense and the legal system seldom if ever mix.

but hey on the up-side quad biking/4x4 is ace fun and all you villagers should cut a deal with the farmer for seriously reduced prices :) :)......would be worth it just to see the local Vicar acting like Colin MacRae.
