Stardvds- becoming a joke arent they?

dicanio (Elite) posted this on Wednesday, 9th May 2001, 17:37

Why the hell have they put up the site when they knew they had nothing in stock? I getting a little peed off with them. They were gonna get delivery on monday? Mondays a bank holiday!!!!! Tuesday they must definetly get it and despatch dvds on order straight away. Do they?? NO f* cking way. Wednesday absolutely must despatch them right? Its 5:35pm and i logged in to find my order still confirmed and on order. What the hell is going on? Are they stupid? They must be incompetant. The site looks great really professional and i had great expectations of them but you know what they say, dont judge a book by its cover.

Steady on guys, moon-on-a-stick-alert. You`re getting bargain R1 DVDs at silly, lower than play247 prices and you`re complaining because they`re running a few days late ???

It`s a new business venture, and obviously there are delays somewhere up the line which is not of Star DVD`s doing. Just give `em a few more days before you start shouting the odds.

I`m surprised at you Dukey, with your well-documented DVDBO problems....;-)

I hope upon hope that you get your goodies, otherwise this will be the DVD rip-off the century, seeing as how so many people have pre-ordered, judging from comments here at Reviewer and over at DVD Forum. Hundreds of people can`t be wrong....can they ?

I still trust these guys. Yeah i guess i am getting a little impatient. Im just cudious as to what possible delays could occur? I am not cancelling my orders and am prepared to wait. I`ve had worser service than this(DVDbo took nearly a month to send me 1 dvd) But i still use dvdbo. Your right they are providing great prices and it wont kill me to wait a few more days.

Here`s what Star DVDs head honcho, Steve, has told DVD Forums today :

"I admit we are a little behind schedule due to a number of factors.
The opening offers spread like wild fire accross the net far from these forums (the DVD Forums) that they were originally meant for, I expected it to happen but not to such a degree. That held it up a little. As did generally the amount of business we have taken in the last week.
But it is winging its way to us now and should ship this week.
Once this initial stock is in things should be alot quicker on the turn around.
I apologise for the delay, especially to those waiting for their Superman`s and Superman Box sets that I know you are keen to get, and those waiting for What Women Want and X-Files sets, but all should be rectified by the end of the week. "

So chill out dudes....

alot of what these guys are saying sounds alot like the scammer!

I think they have probably got too many orders and not enough staff to deal with it!

I took the plunge last week and ordered two discs allegedly "in stock" . I have emailed them this afternoon - at least they replied within 40 minutes, which has got to be a record anyway - stating roughly what was posted by clayts - i did mention in the email that the order tracking was next to useless and they have agreed to make it more informative (wait and see....)

Its not that their running a few days late i mind clayts - its more the fact that they have no stock by the sounds of it - and if they knew this before the 2nd when they opened for business - they should have held back the launch of the site - after all its only FTP.......

The bottom line is, "in stock" means in stock and ready to dispatch in my book - not in stock next week if your lucky - isnt that false advertising? - lets hope they can pull it together by the end of this week or the *hit will hit the fan bigtime....
