Superman & Wharfedale 750 - A Warning

Warning...I received Superman today but it doesnt play on my Wharfedale 750 (first or second generation..over a year old).

On the first side of the disc the copyright notices play but after them the player shuts down (the same as with the LA Confidential Features menu).

On the second side (the special features) the menu comes up but you cant enter them.

The disc works fine on my sisters 750S though.

Think the disc may be RCE as on my RCE there is a different copyright notice on it than on my sisters player.

Trying to get Tescos to swap it for a DVD-M5 but the bloke at Customer Services says they have stopped dealing with Wharfedale. This is despite the fact that on their website they have M5s for sale...I think they are getting anoyed with Wharfedale and are trying to exchange LG3000 instead

Anyone else have a problem with Superman???

Dom,

Make sure that the people who released Superman haven`t done a "Gladiator R2 - Disc 2" mess up with you. It could be down to the software they used to press that DVD.

Like your sister, I have a 750S which (one region hacked) has played a lot of stuff with no problems. I`ve still yet to try Stigmata though. Heard that it hangs. Hope this helps.

BB.

I`ve ordered the disk and am under the impression that it`s RCE. It should be arriveing today or tomorrow so I`ll let you know how it goes on my Scan SC-2000.

Get the firmware upgrade from Tesco. It played a RCE disc for me after I had mine upgraded.

Finally got my M5 from a different Tescos. Think I got the bloke from the Tescos from the other branch the sack though. He wasnt supposed to offer me an exchange player..oh well.

Superman is RCE..I found out after I wrote my orignal message. Havent tried all my discs yet (Matrix etc) to see if this player has a problem.

Thank God this is all over...might buy myself Superman 2 as a treat!!!!

Cheers

My copy arrived yesterday. What an amazing DVD!! It`s double sided and has so many extras on it. 3 docu`s lasting around 30 mins each. Streen test last nearly ten minutes a piece, teaser trailers, deleted scenes, comentary, audio only track, even a section to listen to the musical score and even alternative versions of the musical score. I am well impressed with this DVD.
I have just one question though. It`s my first Region 1 DVD and I noticed in the docus and stuff, it was a little blocky round the edges of objects. Not all that noticable unless you`re looking. The film itself plays beautifully and the extra footage fits pretty well, although some bits you can see why they cut in the first place. My question is this....is this standard on all Ragion 1 DVD that the docu`s and extra bits are a little blocky of is it just this DVD? I also noticed split second jerks every so often (only really noticable when there`s fluid motion and you notice it stutter....not a problem..again only noticed as I was looking for problems with Region 1. :) ) I`m using a Scan SC-2000 on a 24 inch PAL telly.
