ARGH JUST BEEN SUSPENDED BY EBAY
I have just been suspended from ebay after trading on there for over 4 years.
They have suspended me for selling region 1 DVDs, which I was never aware was against their policies.
The thing is I owe them over £200 in fees but I cannot log into my account plus I have a lot of non paying customers. I am unable to get any of my fees refunded, about £20 worth.
I have sent them many emails and they have not replied.
My question is `what will happen if I do not pay my final fees as they obvioulsy don`t care about my £20 in losses? Why should I care about the £200 I owe them. If I fail to pay what can happen to me?
I`ve sold Region 1 dvd`s on ebay and never had a problem. When selling dvd`s they also give you a drop-down list so you can indicate which region it is - and R1 is on the list. If selling Region 1 discs is against their policy, I wonder why they give you the option? :/ ...
If you owe them £200 in fees you must shift a whole load of gear!

RE: ARGH JUST BEEN SUSPENDED BY EBAY
i`ve sold a few R1`s & it actually gave me the option of adding the correct regions into the description :/ & theres still loads selling R1`s so it`s a bit wierd, are you sure they haven`t just suspended you cos of the arears ? (my direct debit got screwed up once & they sent nasty emails within 2 weeks of going overdue, even tho it was there fault :/ ) so they can be funny buggers about that kind of stuff.

Ebay usually only allows you to go into arrears upto £50... so if you owe them £200 then I suspect that`d be the real reason!!

I also sell Region 1 DVDs. Never had a problem before..
I pay my fee`s off pretty much weekly, depends on whats in my paypal fund at the time.
Not sure about the rights and wrongs of eBay and Region 1 DVDs but what *can* happen sometimes is that if you`re selling a Region 1 that isn`t out in the UK yet they cancel your auction as they think it`s a pirate - they seem to be unaware of different release dates.

Isn`t selling R1 discs illegal because they haven`t been passed by the BBFC?
They don`t seem to mind all the pirated stuff though :/

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..

SJ - you are spot on there mate. It is technically illegal for a high street shop to sell R1 as they have not been passed by the BBFC. You can import them legally yourself and that is how play.com etc get round this. They are acting on your behalf as an import agent. This is what killed off Laserdiscs as the high street shops were stopped from selling NTSC discs where back in the hey day of 95 the Ntsc discs were hitting the UK streets the same time as the films hit the cinema here!!!
BBFC suck ass man.
Im into LD still in a big way as I think many titles are superior to the dvd eqivilent, but thats got me thinking? selling ntsc Lds on ebay is technically illegal also????? (:¦

Ebays policy is rather hit and miss.
I got a pirate version DVD of BBC`s Tripods series two, off Ebay, as there never was an official DVD version, due to a despute over who gets the rights.
Also I was selling a slightly dubious ANIME DVD last year, and it was stopped and removed, as they said it was a bit X-rated, yet it sells at least three of the same title every week, so why pick on me ?
I agree it`s a nonsense - I happily bought a Region 6 8-disc box set of CSI Season 4 for £18 with no bother (and yes, it is authentic before you ask) - not out here in the UK yet.
I suspect the arrears are the real reason...
