My Father passed away on sunday it was not expected at all he`d gone to watch my nephews football match watched the first half went to the car for a sit down and had passed away within a few minutes.I was working away in Scotland at the time and could not get home for nearly 9 hrs due to the plane being delayed 4 hrs in the end i flew to another airport and rented a car.Now i feel nothing but guilt for being away i have still not been able to see him and it might be a few more days untill i can.i had only spoken to him an hour before he went to the match and he was fine and we could`nt wait to meet up when i got home (i was very close to him and visited him and my mum 2-3 times a week) i had got him a P.C and he was starting to use the internet and was a really happy man.My mum is devastated as she was feeling under the weather and did not go with him and my brother is guilt ridden because he was not right next to my dad when he passed away.I want to talk to someone but when i do i end up crying so i have just wrote it here

THANK YOU DAD FOR BEING MY MATE ASWELL AS MY DAD

So sorry to hear this news mate, You must not feel any guilt for being away at the time, sounds like you were credit to your dad.
Only time will heal your heart, God bless you and your family.

Very sad news and a very unfortunate set of circumstances. Please don`t feel guilty about it, from what you`ve written you`ve absolutely no need to.

I am really sorry to hear your bad news. I know how you feel about the guilt. It`s not a nice feeling, but it will pass. I am no good with words at times like this so I will just say my thoughts are with you and your family.

All the best,

Andrew.

Really sorry to hear about your loss.

I think it is only natural to feel guilt at this time, all the what if I had done this or that etc thoughts go through your head.

By the sounds of it though, you were a great son to him and he was a great father to you so you have nothing to feel guilty about.

Try and think of times when you had laughs together - hopefully it can bring a smile to your face now and just be there for your mum - you need family around you at these sad times.

Again, my condolences.

My condolences in this sad time.

I can only echo all thats already been said & you have no need to feel guilt none of us know when it will be time to clock out.

I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

I lost my mother to breast cancer when i was 13 im now 30 and think of her everyday you will have to be strong for your mother the same as i was for my father time will take away the guilt as you think of the good times you had and treasure them i still feel uneasy when people mention past memories of my mother.Best thing to do is talk about it with family and friends but it is only natural to feel guilt etc time will heal but you will never forget the great man that was your father and best mate thoughts with you and your family at this bad time.Dont close yourself off from others around you.

I feel for you, been there twice its a two edged sword if you didn`t love them so much it woudnt hurt so much, you know deep in your heart your dad would tell you and your brother that have nothing to feel guilty about, just support each other and look after your mum thats what he would want you to do,and as for crying I shed bucket loads..

My condolences to you and your family.
