Curry`s Gaurentee a waste of time !
Bought a proline dish washing machine four months ago, first got problems six weeks in from new.
It refused to let water into the machine.
The currys repair man said `oh, this is a common float switch fault`, tipped it up and it worked and he left, The salesman never told me it was a common fault ;)
One week later another repair man was out again , same problem, replaced the switch.
I complained to Currys store, `nothing to do with us they say, your by your 4 weeks from new, so you aint getting another or another make`. TAKE NOTE any future buyer.
Wrote to Currys, we will just repair they say, so in the last four months I have had them out, nine times and its broken down again.
So its going to be constant repair till the years up, costing god knows how much in time and cost.
It would have been better to have given me another make when I asked :/

Sounds like it is unfit for the purpose it was sold. Contact your local trading standards and get thier advice.
Good luck. :-)

That is total bollocks,i work for a retailer and we`ve had to replace items in the past which are 2 years old.

NO! you tell them you are the customer, you are entitiled for replacment if you ain`t got the balls to tackle currys then go down to the citizens advice and get some. :/ :/
I would have trashed their f***ing shop.

Currys are s***.
I had to take my MiniDisc player back after about 2 months from point of purchase, after the left ear on the crappy headphones supplied stopped working. I handed it in with the receipt.
I was surprised to find a bill waiting for me to pay for the replacement of the headphones when i went to pick it up. Even more shocking was the fact it was to the tune of £52.
It was sorted out by the manager, thankfully. But i did have to kick up a fuss.
"Do-do-do, da-da, do-do-do, this is insania (a combination of the words `insect` and `Castlevania`)! Good day, mate. I`m Peter Andre, the famous singer. I tell you, mate, me and my crew are always getting up to nischiefties (a combination of the words `naughtiness` and `mischief`). Last night we were on the swings in the park and Jordan wrote `P.Andre luvs boyz` on the seat. Man, she`s one bad nollop (a combination of the words `nasty` and `trollop`). If I hadn`t managed to control my temper I`d have taken her marker pen, and rammed it right up her stinking revagtum."

I can`t believe they`re still pulling this stunt - do a search on all the forums for Dixons Store Group - plenty of posts by me about their cowboy tactics and feigned total ignorance of all consumer laws.
The law is on your side....

One way would be to contact the BBC`s consumer affairs program that's normally on around 7pm on one weekday, not sure what its called. If they take it up most retailers move their arse when they are going to hit BBC1`s prime time.
I gonna kill that firefox spellchecker, and enjoy doing it.

Just to repeat kickback123`s comment, Proline is a Comet brand, not Currys.
After an initial period, usually 2-4 weeks after a purchase, the store is responsible to refund or replace the product.
After that, the first year`s guarantee is with the manufacturer, not the retailer.
