After a year od being engaged me and my partner have finally set our wedding day.
May the 19th 2007 will officialy be the date I`ll will be married and totally and utterly skint!
I really can`t beleive how much a wedding costs considering its all blown on one day and the fact that I`ve already agreed to pay a third of it.
However, I must admit I can`t wait and after seeing the place were going to tie the knot I`am getting quite excited but with it being two years away I`am sure the next two yars of my life will just be filled with wedding talk.
They needn`t cost the earth.
Our wedding,two years ago,cost £5000(ish).
That was in one of the best hotels in the area (The Ardoe house, which is frequented by royalty when they`re in the Royal Deeside area, and Princess Anne was the previous occupant of our room) and my missus got bespoke dresses for her and her bridesmaids.
We had around 80 guests,I think,at the meal and many more at night.
Weddings costs can skyrocket, but they needn`t,unless you want ice sculptures, swans, orchestras and other such excessive nonsense. :/
My sister getting married on the 29th I am going to be bridesmaid. …she has turned into an evil bride to be - DON'T DO IT :o !
Nah, only joking :) - I am sure you will be very happy. All the best and hope everything goes smoothly 8).
...And my sister will be happy once the big day arrives - only 10 days to go :)
It neednt cost the earth indeed. Me and the mrs to be are getting married in august.
Just between you and me, we are getting married on the sunday of the last bank holiday. Why, you ask? Well if you get married any day other than saturday, hotels will do you a sweet sweet deal. Its costing us about a third of what it would cost for a saturday and since its a bank holiday everyone has got the monday to nurse their hangovers. We also got a late bar, so its all good really. We saved about 3 grand doing that which mostly went on the honeymoon (trip around asia. Back of the net!)
I should probably stick that one on Money Saving Expert.......
But you will be amazed how quickly the time goes. We got engaged in 2002 and started planning in 03. The planning has been pretty much a piece of p*** thanks to this

We have basically followed this to the letter and we are right on schedule.

Congrats indeed.
I can second Nicks suggestion of getting married on a Sunday - cheaper and much easier to find availability of everything - venue, food, flowers etc.
We got married almost exactly a year ago (celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary two days ago) and on a sunday.
About the only thing that cost more was the Registrar - Sunday premium but was offset by saving money on everything else.
We went a bit silly with ours, the whole thing, including the album and honeymoon, came to about £15K. We kinda figured we`ll only be getting married once, so why the hell not. It made an impression tho, we`re still getting friends and relatives telling us it`s the best wedding they`d been to. Shame we couldn`t enjoy it as much, as we were too busy schmoozing. I don`t think I actually finished a whole pint, nor did we get the best pickings of the buffet table (which also, was fantastic, apparently)
You don`t need to spend that much tho, and we both wish you the best of luck.
