According to the Associated Press, Frank Gorshin, the impressionist with 100 faces best known for his Emmy-nominated role as The Riddler on the old Batman TV series, has died. He was 72.
Gorshin`s wife of 48 years, Christina, was at his side when he died Tuesday at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, his agent and longtime friend, Fred Wostbrock, said Wednesday.
"He put up a valiant fight with lung cancer, emphysema and pneumonia," Mrs. Gorshin said in a statement.
Despite dozens of television and movie credits, Gorshin will be forever remembered for his role as The Riddler, Adam West`s villainous foil in the question mark-pocked green suit and bowler hat on Batman from 1966-69.
"Frank will be missed," West said in a statement. "He was a friend and fascinating character."

Very sad news. I remember him doing a lightning-switch impression of Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas on Parkinson back in the 1970s that was absolutely spot-on. We didn`t see enough of him this side of the puddle. I`ll be digging out my Batman (1966) in tribute.

Has anyone in my family ever suffered from insanity?
No, we`ve all enjoyed it immensely.
Another Legend passes on.
Last thing I saw him in was 12 Monkeys. A superb Performance.
Deeply missed. :(

....another one bites the dust. A sad day indeed. And he didn`t live to see the series get its long awaited DVD release.... perhaps none of us will. RIP Riddler.... :(
Sad news... :( He was fantastic as The Riddler. I`ve just got the dvd "Return To The Batcave" with him on only yesterday - it will have added poignancy watching it now...

I can remember that vividly myself. He had the two of them in a western duel.
"Gee! Look at all those Teeth"
Always sad when another part of your past passes away.
Was he the best Riddler? For my money, yes by miles.
