Page 1 of School Holidays?
General Forum
Okay, okay, I know I ask this every time.
So when are the big Summer holidays so I know when to "baton down the hatches" (is that in English?) and retire?

It`s `batten`, but I think we got where you`re coming from ;)
We finish 22nd July & go back on 5th September (Staffordshire)

So, do you class it as holliday or are you, a-hem "prepearing"
All the best,
Dr 42%er.
It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....
Do I sense some sarcasm there, my dear Doctor??
I don`t actually start back teaching full time until September, so I`ll have to be content with a week in August for now....

Me? Sarcasm? It`s like teachers marking in their own time. What? oh you mean ticking in the hours while I am still at work doing a full days work. As I say, me? Sarcasm? :p
All the best,
Dr 42%er.

Don`t want to particularly get into a heated debate on this, but my normal school day normally goes like this:
0740 leave home
0800 arrive school
0850 start teaching
1225 lunchtime rehearsal
1540 finish teaching
1600 rehearsals until 1730 (1800 at the moment because of the upcoming production)
Get home & sort my own kids out (bedtime at 1945-2000hrs)
Have my tea, wash up, etc.,
Work at home if needs be until whenever (marking, reports, etc)
On top of that we have a hell of a lot of weekend rehearsals, evening & weekend concerts.
From September I get 4 free periods a week, but that time`ll all be taken up by my position as Musical Director - none of it will go on lesson planning & preparation (as it`s supposed to).
You`re quite right in that some teachers bugger off as soon as the bell goes (really gets on my t1ts), but I certainly ain`t one of `em. My job really is going to be hard work, but you won`t hear me moaning about it. Just don`t tar us all with the same brush please Andrew :(
