Page 1 of What`s The Longest Someone Can Go Without Sleep?

What is the longest you can go without sleep without doing yourself physical damage? I`m sure there is a point where you`d just eventually pass out but what is the longest anyone has ever done? (Hulk, i`m looking in your direction, or do you just lie in in the morns? :p )

36 hours i managed whilst supporting a big re-fit when i worked Tesco

By the end i didn`t even know what i was saying or doing

I wonder why we need these slices of death?

Yeah its a really strange feeling, you mind tricks you thinking you fine because your not under the influence of anything but its totally disorientating, you can see how so many accidents happen due to tiredness :(

Four days, but I was on "uppers" from Picadilly Circus "seller" (ahum).
I was quite wild, once.

Your brain needs sleep for downtime maintenance routines. Stay awake longer than 72 hours and you start leaking marbles. I think the correct term is a psychotic episode. Like the season finale of Enterprise :B

I think this is discussed in one of the Elm Street films. Something about if you stay awake for for than a week your basic motor functions and internal organs shut down and put you on a coma. Nature`s way of saying get some shut-eye, you damn fool.

the most i have done is four days without proper sleep.. but i did find myself drifting off at times!

I went 5 days without sleep cause I shot a 3 short films back to back (I only wrote and directed one though) and edited them. After sleeping for about 6 hours I went another two days without sleep. Funny thing is, I couldn`t sleep properly for months after that :/

Worst episode of no sleep I had was 48 hours and 1500 miles driving.
I hasten to add I didn`t do all the driving at once.
It was drive - activity - drive - activity - drive
I felt odd for days after. :/
