Page 1 of Ebay advice wanted?

Hello all,

I have just sold a gfx card on ebay for a nice sum of £232. However the user is from Lithuania and has no feedback. But he has already paid into my paypal acc and added £20 for P&P. However I clearly stated that all overseas customers should contact me prior to paying. So 2 questions one is it all looking a bit dodge? And as he didnt contact me I do not have to send the Item as yet do I?

I`m sure that somebody on here will be able to offer some good advice. In the mean time I would try asking in the Ebay forum over at the Money Saving Expert site here. They have helped me out a few times in the past.

Hi rvshah,

Although i am sure there must be (some) genuine buyers in Lithuania, a zero feedback buyer from there is very dodgy.

Personally I would refund/reject their paypal payment and either relist or offer SCO.

If it is their card registered with paypal they could do a charge back or if it`s stolen the bank concerned will do a chargeback and you will be left with nothing.

yup yup & yup,,,, also file a dispute with ebay stating your concerns about fraud & the fact the auction stated he should contact you before bidding as he was overseas, that way you can claim your listing fee`s back as well ;)

Yes, refund the PayPal payment and make up some excuse that you can`t send it there. In future if you don`t want to sell to non-UK folk then go into the advanced settings and choose the option to block overseas bidders.

Unless theres good evidence that the payment is fraudulent theres no point in reporting it to eBay because they`ll ignore it.

It is an unsafe payment though. PayPal does not verify addresses in Lithuania and and as soon as he receives the item theres nothing to stop him turning around to PayPal and saying that he never received it and PayPal will refund the payment and you`ll lose the card and your money.

If you really want to sell to this guy refund and insist on payment by Western Union Money Transfer instead. It`s as good as cash and it can`t be reversed. Bet you never hear from him again.

Buyer Block Preferences

Tick the box marked "Block buyers who are registered in countries to which I don`t ship" . While you`re at it you can block bidders with minus feedback ratings and unpaid item strikes (pretty much essential.)
