Hey all,

Has anyone else noticed recently the lack of updates on this site? The last Review I can find was in march 2001. Although the news is done frequently I oftern don`t see any real changes otherwise.

I`m also lost as to why the forums are so empty at the moment. It used to be really full but recently there have been less and less postings. I`ve also noticed a few key members are gone. Has anyone seen Jim about recently? I haven`t, although maybe he is about!!! Although DVD.Reviewer can`t help that I am wondering why people are posting less.

Anyway, over to you,

Max Knight

Summer holidays, perchance ?

Or perhaps the thudding sound of my jackboots has finally got to people...

who cares? I use this site for the forums which are great and unmatched by anything i guess. If i want to know whether a film is good or not, i open up a thread and ask other peoples opinions. this is very useful. I dont ask for a full review, just a yes or no answer would do. reviews are quite interesting but they are long and take time to write. Forums are kick ass

"The last Review I can find was in march 2001"

Where are you looking? The recent reviews page:-

http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/reviews/toptwentyrecent.asp

shows lots of new site reviews - 15 in the last 7 days!

And the Visitors Reviews page shows a similar amount:-

I used to post things on the forums very often but I got to the point where they were full of the same questions repeatidly - and I notice people are still asking how to hack thier pioneer players !!!
(not the fault of DVDreviewer by any means)

it`s only recently that I`ve come back to reading / checking the forums but have always kept up with the news !

Not sure where you`re looking Max

The forums still received 100`s of posts a day. Some of the topics recently have been a bit stale, and a few people seem to be away for holiday, but there`s still a lot of activity.

With regards posts, there`s news every day ! Rich has posted two columns in July, and I posted middle of June. My (pretty comprehensive) article about Online media was also posted mid-July:

http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/news/article.asp?Index=4341

Also, there are reviews posted every week. I put up two yesterday, so I don`t know where you get March 2001 from. Check out "recent reviews" in the "DVD Reviews" section on the left. There`s 15 discs reviewed this month - tell me another site with that number of reviews !

The reason I`m honouring this site with my exalted presence is because it`s so active. It`s also well designed and easy to navigate. It generally gets release news before anyone else too. All in all best dvd site on the web ... unless you know different ...

Although I agree that the site is good I remember a time when there were many more NEW threads and not just replys. Oh the good old days when I was a lad :)

I`m not taking a pop at DVD reviewer in anyway and I think many of you have taken what I said to heart. The amount of emotion on these forums is so high. I don`t dare say anything controversial again now. I agree that DVD.Reviewer is a great site, I`m just wondering why it has changed. Could it have gone like Pokémon? A good thing that got to good it bacame popular and bad?! I`m sure the owners wouldn`t agree :)

Also how many times can we have the thread...`WHAT WAS THE LAST DVD YOU BOUGHT` & `WHICH PLAYER DO YOU HAVE`. All these threads do is slow everything down and make people read loads of posts, half of which just say 3-4 words.

Once again, I`ll see what I get as a reply. Maybe someone agrees?!

Maxknight- I know what you`re saying but anyone who is involved with producing this site (mods/admin) deserve nothing but praise. There are some "regulars" missing and I`ve noticed this myself, but the site and it`s other features are as lively as ever. The reviews/news etc have never really flagged in all the time I`ve been a visitor and I love having the opportunity to review discs myself. Granted, there are some busier message boards, but they tend to get swamped with "cliques" and have members that gang up on other members. They become breeding grounds for ill-feeling and aren`t as friendly in tone as this one. Maybe some people have gone elsewhere, or maybe they`re doing something else entirely, but as long as the site itself is valuable (which it is), then new members will always be attracted. So, I agree about the volume of postings etc, but the site and it`s overall operation are tip-top. There could be a boom just round the corner, but "those were the days" type postings probably won`t help to promote one!.
