Page 1 of Which recent film has let you down the most?

Hi there. Lets start this thread up again. Yeah Gladiator was really disapointing with all the hype. I didnt like it that much. Planet of the apes was pretty disapointing but saved by the beautiful estella warren. I loved the mummy returns and jurassic park 3 despite what people say, they were pure entertainment for 2 hours. Didnt have to think or anything but action movies are meant to thrill and thats what these movies did brilliantly.

I enjoyed Gladiator, but then a lot of it was guessing what piece Hans Zimmer had nicked for bits of his soundtrack. Our of DVDs I`ve bought, which I wish I hadn`t after watching them as, in my opinion, they`re trite and utterly derivative of far superior films are Little Nicky, Deep Blue Sea, Stigmata, Mickey Blue Eyes and Summer of Sam - although to be honest, that one was interrupted so many times and had to be watched over three evenings I think I`ll give it another go...

Mummy Returns really let me down. I was expecting more of the Mummy (a top movie) - you`d think so wouldn`t you?

No, all I got was every naff movie cliche in the book. And I`d tried *so* hard not to see Titanic at the cinema. :D

Its main problem was that it *made* me think. Instead of dazzling me like the Mummy, I was sat thinking "What tosh is this going to throw at me next? Why am I here? Why are these people hooting like morons? Oh God, this is so dire I`m actually compiling a list of things to do when I go into work tomorrow..." etc. etc.

I wasn`t so much as expecting too much as I was willing to accept more of the same. Didn`t even get that.

My choice would be Cast Away. It was total sh*t. Luckly I only rented it!

Most of summer 2001`s big films have been poor.

Tomb Raider - pap
Planet of the Apes - utter pap
The Mummy Returns - pap
Swordfish - ok until the "im fighting terrorism bollocks" comes out !

Jurassic park 3 - good.

As for current DVD, I thought that The Gift was slow and predictable.

Most under rated film of the moment has to be Proof of Life. A top film although I do feel that our Meg was miscast.

Can`t believe no one has mentioned Perfect Storm!
What a pile of pants!!

Although Elizabeth whats her name was good, (but I only say that cos i`ve fancied her for years!).

Mary Elizabeth Manstontonio or some thing. I kinda liked perfect storm. It wasnt bad and was cold and hard but realistic. It was after all based on a true story.
Castaway was brilliant and very moving. It was great to see how he made a life for himself and it made me sad that he had a football for a friend. and how upset he got about it.
I also sometimes wonder what was in that last package. It would have been funny if it was a long range cell phone or something

Perfect Storm , MAJOR boring .

Mummy Returns , great film , just got it this morning .

Stlill rate Toy Story 2 as one of THE best releases of late .

I think i`ve gotta agree that The mummy2 was complete cack.Too much running around and not enough of the Mummy(and definatley not enough of Rachael weiss).On the other hand if you want to see a brilliant and sometimes violent british film then check out Love Honour and Obey with the lead character played by Ray (Who`s the Daddy)winston.I nearly p***ed myself laughing throughout the film.Worst film recently:Swordfish::
