Outsourcing part 2 Asda are at it again.
A note came round the Asda store, saying that they were closing down both canteens, the one for customers the other for the staff, and are outsourcing the customer canteen to a company called Eurest, and the canteen ladies are given three choices, go on to another department, join Eurest, or take redundancy.
BUT, this outsourcing is only a pilot scheme and if it doesn't work out, Asda are going to say bye bye to Eurest. Now Asda are hell bent on saving money, and we`ll do anything to achieve that goal, even if it means cutting corners, so we all know for a fact that this outsourcing won`t last.
So back to the note, it carries on to say that, if it doesn`t work out with Eurest, then they will close the canteen, and instead it will be made in to a MacDonald's. I was shocked when I read that, and in my opinion I find it is disgusting, because it`s basically encouraging more junk food on the public, as well as the Asda staff members.
Now I know we all have a choice, but come on Macdonalds uses some sort of Jedi mind trick which tells you why buy a healthy salad, when you can have a Big Mac meal for half the price? This will cause more obesity in kids and adults.
I can see the beef Americans have with Wal-mart, because Asda is going downhill with its treatment to customers and their own staff, thank God I`m leaving at the end of next month.

lol. I tore a hole in the leg of my trousers trying to get a floor panel up at work to run some network cable through, so I dashed to asda and got some of their 6 quid `value` black trousers.
For the rest of the afternoon I felt like I should have had an afro with the amount of static coursing through my veins. The trousers were that highly charged they stuck to my legs like they were wet. Strangely, for value trousers, £ per wear, they are the most expensive pair I have ever owned as when i got them home i chucked them in a charity sack.
Some poor bastard in africa is probably walking round giving static shocks to everything he touches as we speak.
What im listening to (if youre interested)

The Asda by me had a canteen previously and was lovely, and cheap at that, but they closed that down, even though loads of complaints were made about it.
replaced it with a McDonalds and I have never eaten there since.
Shame because the Asda canteen was REALLY nice, Southern Chicken, mmmmm........

Surely there are enough McD`s knocking around by now... I can`t say I`ve ever eaten at a supermarket cafe but they can`t be any worse than a McD`s! This is potentially going to take child-parent pester-power to new levels. Forget the sweets and bars of chocolate next to the till when you can have a happy meal! :o
Just a thought - it could create a customer service "vortex" or other weird (made-up) phenomena by putting a firm with atrocious customer service inside a store with (in my experience) really good customer service... :/

ok as we all know asda is owned by wall-mart and i am afraid to say that while visiting florida a few years ago i had a nose around two diffrent wall-marts (looking for cheap dvds) and both of them had mc donalds inside..........guess it was inevitable that it was gonna go the same way here :(

I don`t understand why they don`t make a profit on a public canteen - same goes at Morrisons, and Tescos - they cook the food they are selling on the shelves at a higher value - and I bet its always their ownbranded food they cook and sell.
My nearest ASDA has gone the MacDonalds way :¦

Verging OT, but some American *hospitals* outsource their canteens to McDonald`s.

Our Tesco took out their cafe and replaced it with dvds and mobiles, higher profits for less effort I guess.
Macdonalds salads can be as bad for you as the burgers, beware of thinking they are the healthy option.
