Just moved in...

bigfan (Elite) posted this on Friday, 11th August 2006, 23:17

I`ve just moved into our first house and I have a few queries...

The gas and electricity supply are both through British Gas on "key meters". How simple, and how expensive is it, to change these to normal meters that result in a direct debit bill every month / quarter?

Also, are British Gas the best people to be with for utilities?

Cheers

I had an electricity card meter phoned them saying it was there when I moved in and can they change it. They changed it free of charge. If they want to charge to change the meters just threaten to go to a different supplier.

Try looking at Ebico, especially if you`ve got a prepayment meter. Ebico charge everyone the same, no matter how they pay. You have to pay the higher rate for the prepayment cards, but then they refund the difference.
