General Forum
My step daughters school class have requested answers to the following puzzle.
An old man with a walking stick is placed in a concrete cube. How does he escape?
Allegedly there`s only one person in her class that knows the answer, so she`s desperate to work it out ASAP.
Any help anyone can give us would be appreciated.
Thanks guys n gals
P.S - If I find out the right answer, I`ll post the info back here.

It`s not easy being different. It`s not easy being cool....but somehow I manage....
That was my thought. We`ve had the usual:
Digs his way out with his walking stick
Digs his way out with his false teeth
And stuff like that, but no good so far.

is it something silly like the concrete hasn`t set so he puts his stick in the concrete as it dries, so he can make a hole to get out.
or in the original wording is it worded so that his stick is in the box, not him?
He rubs his hands together until they are sore
He saws his stick in half, 2 halfs make a whole
He climbs out the whole/hole?
Shouts till he is hoarse, gets on the horse and rides away.

you mean teaching them to think laterally to solve seemingly insurmountable problems?
Sounds like quite a good idea to me :-)

Thats f***in stupid. Also, now I know my grammar is s***e but if it is worded exactly as the school put it then they need a slap. "A old man" should be "An old man"

Jackal`s theory looks good. Like that old riddle about breaking out of jail, where you rub your hands until they are sore, and so use the saw, and then shout until you`re hoarse, and then riding away on the horse,
Something like that anyway.
i guess it`s to teach about wordplay? words that sound the same but are spelt differently?
Maybe they should come here to learn about apostrophes in the wrong place etc ;)
