Ebay and its second chances!!
Just been after a little digicam, and used the Canon Outlet shop flogging a few refurbished compact jobs. Every bid was outbid in the last few mins, and so when I saw that, I bid on the next one of the same type to come along.
Sod`s law has dictated that I win one bid, and then almost immediately get a notification of a `second chance` at buying the same model at a cheaper price from a previous bid which someone didn`t honour for whatever reason.
Would it be wrong to cancel the winning, more expensive, bid and then buy the cheaper one? (by `wrong`, I mean, would it be against some strange Ebay rules which would turn me into a pox-ridden online auction pariah who keeps himself to himself, stares at kids in funny ways, and likes to polish guns...sort of).
I have bought one thing off Ebay...and this would be my second, so the more gently I`m broken in, the better.

Hey, it`s their rules. personally, I`d buy the one I went for initially, just from a moral point

Its a bit s***...I recently bid on something and got out bid - so went to another seller and bid and won it. Then I got an email sating that I won the other auction as whoever else was bidding retracted their bids. Luckily that seller noticed this and was OK about it.

yes, it`s annoying...and I`m only dealing with one seller. I`ve got a couple of days to buy it anyway :-)

If it`s the same seller, ask them if they would mind if you bought the first one and cancelled the second one.
If they say no, get the second one. They`ll simple offer a second chance to the person who came runner up to you, anyway. That may even be what happened with the first one!
I reckon they`ll be ok about it So long as they get a sale with you, they`ll be happy, and it`s fairly straightforward for a seller to retract the winning bid and pass it on as a second chance.

At worst you`ll get a non-paying bidder strike. Three and you`re suspended I think. Sellers can no longer leave negatives. If you mutually withdraw, seller will get his fees back.
