Page 1 of What the hell have they done to Post Offices?

I think I might have been lucky, because today was the first time I`ve had to endure the crapness that is the ticket system Post Office. What a load of arse. Annoying robot voice going on and on, announcing tickets for people who long since gave up and left. It`s not even a fair system. I had been standing there for over 20 minutes when some bloke walked in behind me and got handed a ticket from someone else who didn`t need it. End result, he waited for about 5 minutes before being served (before me) and I waited almost 30! That would never have happened with the queuing system. Thank God I normally use my local PO and not the big city centre ones.

They`re not called Post Offices any more, they`re called WH Smiths.

Actually, come to think of it, all the Post Offices I know are no situated at the back of shops. There`s no actual Post Office left where I live. And the service is as good as the shop. Our nearest one is in a ethnic food shop (I just call it a food shop ;) ) And they have an annexe next door where they sold fresh vegetables. Past tense, cos a couple of weeks ago the council closed it down for rats. Now if the rats migrate next door for the dry goods, that`s the sole post office for 20000 people shut down...

Our local PO is going despite the family who runs it really wanting to stay, it being really popular, and them not being mardy about parcels. :( From November I`ll have to get on a bus to go to either of the ones the PO reckons are just as convenient. Bastards.

I saw the question and my immediate thought was closed them all, but uv proved that wrong ;)

They are now The Peoples Post Office - That`s why they are closing them all.






I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

I used our PO the other day for the first time in ages, was in the queue about 45mins because of all the people sending parcels out for stuff they had sold on flea bay, i might be mistaken but none of them where English :/

I find it strange that the PO is struggling when there must have been an increase in use of the postal system with the popularity of eBay.

You`d think. Individual POs get the mardies on about eBay cos of the time it takes. Our PO is/was cool with it though they let people who come in often and can be trusted just leave their parcels and come back later to pay so it didn`t hold the queue up.

I hardly ever use the Post Office, but our local one said ebay has been their "saviour".
