Page 1 of Sooo Todays my last day at work :)

Bit of mixed emotions really, Absolutely love the people here and the location (even though its remote and i dont drive) but the new GM has really changed the morale of the staff and the cost cutting has been ridiculous. Now find the GM is gonna be off sick for 2 months lol, if they had told me that i would have happily stayed :), not that i dont like her but she was HR who hired me and is in no way a GM unfortunately and been put in as a yes man from head office.

Couple of interviews in the week, Jersey appeals again although the enemy wont like that and Hilton, Ibis and Best Western all invited me for interview so hopefully will get the job I want and be settled in no time :)

Funny you can be in a really good job, good wages, good work mates, then some sod of a boss comes along and destroys everything.

Been there myself tweny years ago, in the exact same circomstance, where a new boss who under a hidden agenda had to get rid of people. As a hatchet man he started picking on individuals one at a time, they all started leaving, aand he was so good at his job, they had to hire in temps to fill in the positions before the company wound up, so it cost them more in the long run.

Me, well I was one of those picked on and left ASAP, started my own business, and never looked back.

So good luck, whatever you decide to do, its for the best.

Had a similar affair with clothing chain NEXT, I worked there for 9 years as a Senior Sales Assistant, all of a sudden a new area manager takes over, Was in a bad mood one day and gets on to me for doing my job the way I was trained to and then he makes my life hell after I give a bit of lip back, I quickly left and now I am a store manager of another shop, a place where I am respected and funny, I really enjoy my work now!

NEXT are probably one of the worst employers to work for!

Ditto with a contract for Computercenter at a GSK site, all was well with CC\GSK staff working under GSK`s procedures etc everyone was happy beforehand & for the good 3 or so years I was there.

GSK outsourced the IT support to CC & we were left following a different set of procedures with interference every 20 minutes from off-site managers, GSK staff either took redundancy or promoted\transfered out of the local support dept prior to this.

Moral hit the basement & one chasing phonecall\e-mail too many & I found myself a new contract within days.




I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

I was 5 years with the best company I ever worked for, extremly happy and working my way up the company ladder. Then, without warning, they decided to bring in a new Head of Sales & Marketing (with no sales experience) who was the biggest twat I have met in my career!

First thing he decided to do was change how the (highly successful!!!) sales team operated and reduce the team by a third. He also took a dislike to me (because I could see through him...just think of The Emperors New Clothes tale!) and demoted me, replacing me with someones bit of skirt.

It might surprise you all to learn that sales went down by 60% and gp by 50%! In fact within months of him being appointed the company went bust!

Anyhow mbilko, the best of luck and you`ve did the right thing in the long run.
