Tax Credits

LongPig (Competent) posted this on Friday, 4th September 2009, 07:22

Have been getting a bit since 2003. Forgot to renew it with the relevant form whilst in Canada last Aug.
Put a new application in in January... and I`m still waiting for the approval and payments.
I`ve been pestering their helplines but it`s the same response. "We see all the info needed is given, we can`t advise how long this will take,..."
Bah! >:(

8 months I tells ya!
I suppose when they finally approve the damn thing I`ll get a more noticeable back-payment hopefully in time for Xmas. :¦

Anyone`s application ever take this long? Is my only option to sit quietly and wait?

Duno which tax credits you mean, specifically.
But we recently had right problems with the working families tax credits, or whatever they call it now.
They claim we`ve been overpaid for the last year, which is a laugh considering how low the payments were anyway.
End result is they`re giving us the grand sum of £34 for the entire 2009/2010 term.
Or they would we giving us £34 for the year, if I hadn`t openly laughed at the woman down the phone and told her to stick her £34.
Honestly, £34 a year ain`t worth the damn time filling in the forms! :D

Get in touch with your local MP. All MP`s have a direct "hotline" to the Tax Credit lot. Just shows how bad it is.

I have had no end of issues with them.. when I speak with the faceless call centres I get the usual usless response "computer says no".

When my MP got involved it was amazing how quick they replied.

Thanks guys. I`m on about Child Tax Credit. BTW, who is my MP if I`m at a BFPO address in Germany?
