Dr Who film rumour.. someone please quash this!

OK, it`s an article on the AOL home page, but there`s apparently a rumour doing the rounds online that we are about to be treated to a Doctor Who movie!
Yay! I hear you Whovians cry!

Well, `ang about a bit... it seems that it will be penned by a certain RTD that I believe some are glad to see the back of.
But thats not the BIG problem!
Apparently, playing the part of our eloquently British Doctor will be the one and the only:
SPOILER:
JOHNNY DEPP!

Someone please direct me to somewhere credible telling me this is fake :(

imo, RTD was quite a bit better than the current batch, only liked 2, maybe 3 eps of this season :(

It`s the sort of rumour that has the word "Bollocks" running through it like a stick of rock.

Fun on TV, a bit disposable but fun. Making that leap to the big screen would require a very large shift in production values, script quality and direction.

Two things RTD lack plus he`d need to drop his DEM resolutions that he pulls out of his ass.

Johnny Depp isn`t that bad a choice if HAD to be a yank.

Was never keen on the last USA movie of DOC WHO, and could never understand how Paul McGann could possibly be numbered in sequence as a doctor, wheras Peter Cushing who played the Doctor twice in earlier UK Dalek movies, was never numbered, but was stand alone.

My interperpation was and still stands, that the Doctors in the movies should be stand alone, and not be numbered in sequence. Only the TV doctors who played the part for years, earn the right to be in numbered seqence.

Just my crazy thoughts on the matter :D

The BBC co-produced TV movie\pilot with Fox ensured continuity by having the Seventh Doctor in it & shown to regenerate into the Eighth, McGann was endorsed by the BBC not only when the movie was shown, but in BBC Books (yanking Virgins New Adventures licence - Not before The Dying Days) in the opener The Eight Doctors (not one of dear old Uncle Terrance`s best bits of work IMO), the Radio Times & authorising Big Finish to use McGann in their audio adventures later on.

Not to mention the fact they have in the new series featured images of The Eighth in the Journal of Impossible Things & in the Eleventh Hour with all the rest.

Every site BBC or otherwise has the established & accepted lineup & I hope MCGann keeps on doing his BF Audio adventures (especially with Luci where he`s almost playing it as her straight man).

Peter Cushings Doctor Who films were adaptations of the existing first two Dalek scripts, with a human not alien Doctor with the surname "Who", who had knocked up TARDIS (note the lack of "The" or "A") inside a Police Box (presumably Ealing Comedy Council wouldn`t give him planning permission for anything larger in his back garden).

Thus 60`s Cushing Doctor runs parallel briefly with the accepted continuity (along with the TV Comic version & his two grandchildren John & Jillian who go off to meet their mysterious inventor grandfather, who lives in a scrapyard for the very first time), before hitting the wall & coming to a dead stop in the aborted third film in the series based on "The Chase"*.

*Originally going to be one of the historicals, until someone wisely thought that perhaps Daleks might do better at the box office for a third time, than a reworked history lesson.

You think that`s bad according to IMDB

Meryl Streep, is set to play Margaret Thatcher in a biopic for Pathe and the BBC. Jim Broadbent is in talks to play Maggie`s husband Denis.
