Page 1 of Police pay to be cut...
General Forum
I`ve been of the opinion for a while, well since Police Chiefs have been bleating about having to cut millions of bobbies, that something needed to be done about their pay and overtime first. It would appear that Theresa May has now caught up with this idea and apparently a rather scathing report on Police pay is due out within the next few weeks.
Here`s something I didn`t know that shows how out of kilter police overtime is:
Figures released by the Met in August revealed five constables boosted their wages by £50,000 with overtime.
Just how is this right? That`s an extra 10 PC`s that could have been employed by the Met. I`d be interested in seeing their overtime rates and just how many extra hours that took to accumulate.
I also think that Doctor`s T`s & C`s should be looked at as I don`t understand how it`s acceptable to have medical professional working 50+ hour weeks and expecting them to still be alert and incapable of making mistakes.

At the end of the day many professions are taking pay cuts or pay freezes at the moment. So why should they be any different? Sorry to our resident Bobby. ;)

RE: Police pay to be cut...
I`m on a dodgy ropey fence on this one.
I would much rather see the ar$ehole copper weeded out and gotten rid of (and every cop I speak to knows of at least one)
You all know the type I mean, the one who will stand there making a huge issue out of something trivial that other cops have decided isn`t a problem so he doesn`t get dragged to the nearest "real" incident.
For the cops who go right in there when needed, the ones who use a bit of common sense in dealing with issues and the ones who do the job because they want to actually help the public and make a difference rather than some power trip I`d personally say leave their pay alone (tbh I`d give them a raise!) cos there`s no way I want to be facing some mad, junked up Ned fulla coke or heroin with a blade in his hand because some bureaucrat somewhere cut some guy`s wages so he decided to stay home that night.
Although 50 G`s in overtime is a tad ridiculous....

My outlook on life is positive & carefree, I`m positive that I`m a pessimist & I don`t care what what you think.
Never has so little had to be explained by me to so many so often.
Would they like to save money on policing?
T`other arf was stopped in town the other day.
Excuse me madam you have a brake light not working. Then follows a ten minute lecture on the importance of maintaining a vehicle and how he should really give her an on the spot fine. What he does give her is a form to take to an MOT station to have it stamped that the light is now working.
This piece of paper has then to be taken to the local plod shop along with the usual licence, MOT, Insurance etc.
Arrive at the station and after a wait the piece of paper along with all the docs is duly checked and entered.
Would you sign here please madam
What for
This is your piece of paper to acknowledge that I have seen and dealt with the original piece of paper, and sign here as well please
(and again) What for
This is my piece of paper to prove that I have given you a piece of paper acknowledging that I have dealt with the original piece of paper.
Now I know it`s a really radical suggestion but what about.
"Excuse me madam you have a brake light not working, get another bulb in ASAP would you please, have a nice day."

I used to be with it, but then they changed what `it` was.
Now, what I`m with isn`t it, and what`s `it` seems weird and scary
[Google have marked freeimagehosting.net as a hoster of malware, therefore this link has been removed]Salary them. And another way to save millions is to do away with the sick pay scam whereby millions of public sector workers get full pay for 6 months and then half pay for 6 months. Who in the private sector gets a masive perk like that? It would do away with thousands of bogus `stress` sickies/paid holidays.
On one of the news programmes last night a police man, not sure if he was an ex police man or not, said it was possible to do just 5 minutes into overtime & claim 4 hours overtime work.
Police?? Do we still have them?? I can`t remember the last time I saw a real policeman.
