Page 1 of ebay payment question..
General Forum
Sold something today - and the buyer has only been a member for a week - so has a feedback of 0. Now, we`ve all got to start somewhere..
I`ve just had an email from `him` - and the `mailed by` is paypal.com. I think he`s done a direct payment - based on my email address? The money is in my Paypal account.
Thing is, am I protected by ebay if it goes wrong? Usually Paypal would have taken a cut but I got all of the money.
I first then thought `no` but thinking about it now, it`s no different to cash and the transaction still went through ebay. Thing is though, why doesn`t everyone do it as a direct payment?

We will pay the price but we will not count the cost..
Well I`ve taken them out. :-)
But surely as the purchase was completed within eBay I`ve got eBay protection?

RE: ebay payment question..
AFAIK the purchase may have taken place within Fleabay but because the buyer hasn`t gone through the payment process, I doubt you will be protected as eBay won`t have on records of the payment taken place. Pretty sure I`m right but best to double check with Fleabay.
Hope it works out ok
Ok, I`ll try and check wirh ebay.
What about cash/cheque purchases though? Hasn`t he just paid me via an alternative way?
EDIT: Sorry, think I`m mistaken. Just checked and Paypal shows the payment of £26 coming in - but on the other screen (payments received) it shows it as £24.92 - so fees have been paid.
I just thought the mail came from Paypal when payment is made?
All seems OK I think.

RE: ebay payment question..
Part of the paypal agreement is that if anything goes wrong they can take the money back from your alternative sources, first bank acc. then CC if there`s one on there.
99% sure as others state its not covered by seller protection if it didn`t go through fleabay but I`m no expert.
Also remember in the back of my mind reading somewhere the time limit is 3 months or similar... think of a dispute after receipt of item when they make one or other party pay the cost.
