Just been looking at the list of candidates for my ward as so far I've only had one very expensive glossy fold out for the sitting Labour MP.
To be honest she'd get in if she lived abroad and her sole election statement consisted of 'Yeh, whatever' just by being Labour.
So should I vote for Lib Dem, which is my current preference?
He's a work experience 20 year old. Well that's what he looks like. I've got three kids around that age and as intelligent as they are I don't think anyone that age has the necessary life experience to qualify as an MP.
Conservatives needn't even bother in this ward.
Green? Seriously? If it's available have a listen to a green MP quizzed, at length, on Stephen Nolans show last night on 5Live. Toe curlingly incompetent. You'd think they would have learnt after the Natalie Bennett interview.
BNP light (UKIP) Just a name, no photo, not even and age. I don't have a Brown shirt and my shoulder hurts too much for any Sieg Heiling.
Maybe The Trade Union and Socialist Alliance candidate. Whose pic looks like it was taken on a picket line in the 70's which is probably where his politics started and stopped.
Oh hang on there's an independent candidate. 18 years of age. She's standing after appearing in a play and realising how easy it was to stand as an MP!
Maybe we could introduce the Lib Dem to the Independent and maybe start an MP breeding program.
For the first time in my life I may be reduced to defacing the ballot paper as my only option.

Thanks to the first past the post system my vote won't really count for much in this tory dominated area. Of course I'll still be voting.

I wonder how few people have to vote before they bother to change the system. Probably a few more coalition governments needed before that happens...
I think (or maybe hope?) the smaller the voting pool the harder it is for the big parties to win a majority, and the more likely they are to agree to change the system.

Do they still exist, thought trade unionist went extinct back in the 80's?
I remember being in a white collar Trade Union, when I was an engineering draughtsman working on a drawing board, and they would call 'all out, brothers' when the temperature in the office was below 67 degrees F. Then we all stomped outside into the bitter winter where it was freezing, till the office temperature was raised. Crazy!
When this happened three days in a row, I just got fed up and went home on the tube, and the next day both the Trade union and the bosses were wild at me for doing that.
I did not stick that job long after that and resigned from the union for good (and why did I join in the first place, no option as it was a closed shop, meaning you had to be in or you would not keep the job).

I would have thought closer results and coalitions would mean more people voting.
I think it might be a higher turnout this time than you'd think. I've overheard a couple of conversations between younger voters that they hadn't before but would this time. Also noticed more interest from first timers (students) than previously. Even my kids who've not shown much interest before will probably tick one box or another on the 7th.

Well all the BS and bluster seems to be having an effect looking at the
massive swings in the polls.

Anybody see the program where the tory guy was ripped apart over the alleged letter in The Telegraph from businesses supporting them?
Unless I missed it I can't believe more hasn't been made of it.
EDIT: found it.

Well we have had all the glorious leaders telling us that they are not going to hit us with yet more taxes.
We 'promise' they say, which as we know is a promise they will not keep, they never keep, no matter the party that gets in.
They already have VAT set to rise from the 20% it at already, and why VAT you say well it hits both employed, unemployed and anyone that buys anything.
Its us mugs that think we have a choice in the matter. Change for the better, some hope.
