More than 70 Tory and about 20 labour MPs are standing down now or not standing for re-election
Something about rats & a sinking ship...

Conservatives also have a lot of candidate vacancies to fill in very little time.
I believe they've put 48 hours on the message sent round.
Prospect of constituencies with no Tory candidate.

I always get a chuckle looking at the day's front pages on the BBC news site, and how so very disparate they are when reporting on the same stories. The Mail & Express in particular are very good barometers for the truth. Just read their headlines and take the exact opposite as fact.
However, today it seems the Daily Fail can smell blood... (even though their whole front page is a poster child for cognitive dissonance)

Policies like this; bringing back national service for 18 year olds, convince me that the Tories just don't want to win this time.

At least it will bring out the youth vote at record levels to oppose it.
The only thing I can think is that the Tories have so screwed the country up this time, that the only way for any party to fix it would be to enact policies so drastic that they will be hated out of power by the next election, either that or they'll try tinkering around the edges and only make it worse.

It's probably time for them to stop targetting 80 year olds as their target audience, it's a dying market.

'National Service for all 18 year olds', or a year of working doing 'Social/Community Working' every weekend... it would never happen with today's self entitled generation, for too many it is made too easy not to contribute to society.
Don't get me wrong, probably the majority are more than capable, but really we need to target those who's aspirations are to claim benefits, and break the law at every opportunity!
I listened to a really interesting debate on R4 about immigration, in that in Belgium and Netherlands, benefits cannot be claimed until the individual has paid three full years tax into the system. Both countries welcome migration, and the vast majority of those that go there, do so to work, contributing back into thriving communities.
Perhaps that's the policy that both parties here should be looking at, no payouts until you have paid in, regardless of where you come from home grown/or migrant.

Have to agree that bringing back conscription is the death nell for the conservative party, and they have decided to do this to ensure they get kicked out. They have had enough.
No-one in this modern day wants to see mandatory conscription.
Imagine with our thugs being trained to thug :( mental, Benidorm and the like must be s***ting themselves

You could not believe this, well you could...
The tories have not won the election yet, nor implemented nation service yet, but have already stated Parents could be fined if children refuse to do national service. Minister of State for Indo-Pacific Anne-Marie Trevelyan refuses to rule out court prosecutions after Rishi Sunak pledges to bring back scheme for 18-year-olds.
Anyway, chances are the tories are out of the game soon.
