4th of July... Our independence day?

Jitendar Canth (Reviewer) posted this on Wednesday, 22nd May 2024, 16:48

It's not just a question of getting these idiots out...
It's a matter of which idiots we replace them with.

Any political party getting you cock-a-hoop?

Any one at all?

Never have I felt more disenfranchised...

In my lifetime its definitely the worst of a very bad bunch and given that I will still vote snp because the only way Scotland can truly be rid of the right wing fascist tory party is independence because mark my words they will grow and grow in strength unfortunately

Fun points from the little speech - some legend standing outside the gates blaring 'Things can only get better' as loud as possible - Sunak doing the speech in the rain to try and prove some kind of point - actually asking the question 'who do you trust?' as if that was some kind of winning statement.

2 days before my birthday. Can't wait.

Well I am going on holiday to Spain that week so timed it well to give it all a miss. Was not going to vote anyway as all parties are rubbish as our standard of living goes further down the tubes. In fact if this carries on, my next holiday might only get me to Barry Island. Yuck!

On the plus side - Farage has said he's not standing for election 'under the current system.'

You mean the democratic one where most votes wins?

Pity. It would have split the votes more effectively and it helps to keep a handle on how many [GordonBrown]bigoted women (and men)[/GordonBrown] there are in the country.

we will inevitably end up in a hung parliament.

I will never vote for Starmer, a liar, and his party still haven't not made any apologies for the lies that Tony B'Liar told in 2003 around WMD.

The only positive from this lot is the 'Time for Change' message, yes it is, but not just the Houses of Parliament, perhaps its time to get rid of the House of Lords, and actually in terms of MP's have massive cull in numbers to a third of the current population.  Is four/five years really enough to change things, all any  party does is blame what they inherited, perhaps a longer period may see some stability?

Lib Dems - its like a protest vote, but ultimately futile

Reform - without Farage at the helm, I don't believe that whilst they may field 630 candidates, they wont even get their deposits back in many seats, just another protest spoiled vote!

Green Party - can only say positive things at a local level, but that's what they are local people who, look after local interests... and we want someone to run the country!

Well for all our devolved cousins, good luck, the SNP have imploded, they need a major reset if they ever want to be taken seriously again.  Plaid Cymru look like they are now being dragged in to the mire of murky payments and supporters.

So that leaves us with the current party...

I can honestly see this election having one of the lowest turnouts of all time, as the public just do not know who to put the cross in the box for!

Perhaps we should have a 'none of the above' box, and this might actually show how disenfranchised the public are with those who are elected to lead us.

Just my thoughts/opinion, not those of my family/friends/or anyone else.

nah. labour is so far ahead, and Reform is doing so much damage to the Tory vote Starmer's a shoe-in at this point

https://www.politico.eu/europe-poll-of-polls/united-kingdom/

I remember a comment made by a News pundit during the locals/police commisioner elections recently:

"If you voted Reform, you're getting labour" - spot on. Reform will never be in power as they're essentially a joke, and all they're doing by existing is making sure labour stays in the big chair for just as long as the Tories have, if not longer.

At least Labour aren't going to get the landslide they're expecting. With Skir Starmer's stance on Gaza, a significant fraction of traditional Labour voters aren't going to turn out. It's not going to be a hung parliament, but's it's also not going to be the triple digit seat majority that some commentators are predicting.

I think this might actually be the lowest turnout GE since women got the vote.
