Shocking and desperately saddening and sickening events today in Southport.
2 little children dead and 9 injured, 6 of them critically.
After seeing some horrid speculation on 'social media', I was actually relieved to see the arrested 17 year old was born in Cardiff.
People are desperate to jump to the story they want to hear rather than wait for some actual facts.Β Sadly, if they don't hear it there's no problem in just making stuff up.
A bit like the awful events at Manchester Airport yesterday I guess.
Anyway, my heart goes out to all those affected, especially the poor parents.Β Words can't come close to expressing things here.

Why????
RE: Stabbings in Southport π
Clearly mentally disturbed. Which calls into question the state of mental health services in this country. i.e. it's been decimated and people who need help aren't getting it. I mean, it took 2 court cases to get Max into the best school for him, and he's bloody thriving.
But it's too early to divert to politics.
edit: Just seen an update saying the suspect got there by taxi and didn't pay the fare. Which denotes this wasn't random. He deliberately wanted to go to that destination to do the thing he did. The only thing that would have made this event stand out from the norm is the inferred connection to Taylor Swift, which again reinforces my uninformed opinion that there are several MH issues at play.

RE: Stabbings in Southport π
From BBC Verify. Important to share:
Quote:
Almost immediately after the deadly stabbing attack in Southport, baseless rumours began spreading online.
While police and emergency services were still responding to the attack, a widely shared LinkedIn post claimed without evidence that "a migrant" was responsible.
But the most viral source of rumours so far has been a report published on an obscure US-based website which claims to cover "breaking news".
The report falsely claims that that the 17-year old suspect is an "asylum seeker" named "Ali Al-Shakati", who "arrived in the UK by boat last year".
Merseyside Police has confirmed that the suspect was born in Cardiff, and has yet to identify the 17-year-old.
The report also adds that the suspect was "on the MI6 watch list", despite the fact that it is MI5, not MI6, that deals with domestic counter-terrorism cases.
The name "Ali Al-Shakati" has since been widely shared online in posts viewed by millions.
Some other outlets, including Russia's RT news channel, have also reported this name, citing the US-based website.
Other variations of the report, including the claim that the suspect was a "Channel migrant", have also been widely circulated.
The actual name of the suspect cannot be revealed for legal reasons

A sickening follow-on from this tragedy. A belligerent horde of cavemen swarmed the area straight after the vigil last night and started a riot, ripping apart walls and garden tiles to throw at a local mosque, them started attacking police, injuring more than 50 of them
My previous post contains the unfounded rumours that may have sparked the violent scumbags into action, fuelled in no small part by elected moron Farage
Quote:
"Was this guy being monitored by the security services? Some reports say he was, others less sure," he says.
"The police say it's a non-terror incident [...] I just wonder whether the truth is being withheld from us. I don't know the answer to that, but I think it is a fair and legitimate question."
It was a 17 year old from Cardiff, you utter bellend. I hope there's a full investigation into his comments and he's duly punished. Because you can bet pennies to pounds every one of the knuckle-dragging troglodytes voted Reform, or Reform-adjacent.
The shining beacon of hope is the community coming together to clear up the mess left behind, which is truly inspiring. It's just a shame it was ever needed. Right-wing nutjobs are always bleating about an invasion of violent thugs from elsewhere. Surely they have no mirrors at home.

Nearly 400 rioters arrested less than a week after the initial attacks in Southport. And where's the racist scumbag who sent his useful idiots to do his bidding?
Can someone please tell me the difference between this piece of detritus and someone like, say, Abu Hamza, or Anjem Chowdry? Because those lines are becoming very blurred
