Well firstly, you need a TV that is capable of displaying an NTSC picture (most modern TVs can) and secondly, you should ensure that your DVD player is connected to your TV`s RGB-capable SCART socket (usually the first one if it has more than one) and that you are using a full specification SCART lead (i.e. it has all of its pins, no holes). I hope that helps.

Thank you Ian, My tv is ntsc compatible, and I have it connected to rgb socket there is some colour mainly a blue hue, the scart plug is a 21pin scart. Is there a particular brand scart plug and price range I should be looking at, or should all 21 pin scarts work.I have switched to ntsc on dvd player.
Thanx for your help

Hmm... well I`m not too sure on this one. Setting the player to NTSC only affects the configuation menus; the player auto-switches between a PAL and NTSC display for the actual movie depending on the format of the disk. Check that the SCART lead is connected firmlay at both ends. Unless anyone else has any ideas, you could try another SCART lead in case the one you have is faulty. The blue hue suggests that the red signal isn`t getting through, but I could be wrong!

tried that, but all region 0 ntsc dvds I own work perfectly on region 2 settings but not on 1, and the scart I have wasnt exactly cheap anyway, surely if there was a problem with scart all dvds would play in b/w no matter what region setting i was playing it on

Perhaps you have to enable RGB on your TV scart (some TV sets can manage different signals on every scart, but you have to choose one). Try using another conection between DVD & TV. Try to conect the DVD to the VCR first...

Jolly good, but it is a shame because you will get a better quality picture if you use the RGB socket. Perhaps you could try another SCART lead anyway, just in case. You could go to Dixons and get one, tell them you *might* have to bring it back before you hand over the money. Don`t trash the packaging and keep the receipt, and if you have no joy with that then Dixons will take it back, no problems.
