Hi,

Does anyone know of the REAL hack for this machine?

Also, does anyone know if there is actually 25 maximum changes, as I have been told it could be anything from 5 upto 25.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Mike

Hi Brandy,
I have a philips dvd930 which used the same hack as your player.
It also locked after 25 changes. I talked to engineers at my work who inturn contacted philips in Einhoven, Holland. They informed me that it can only be unlocked by replacing the main prosessor, this would not be covered by my gaurantee. I got it changed anyway but this still didn`t solve the problem. In the end I had to pay to get the player chipped by a company advertised on the internet. This solved my region lock problem but unfortunatly didn`t turn the macrovision off. I solved this problem using a hack that required the use of a philips pronto remote control (about £250).
I hope this is helpful,
Regards Rick.

We can upgrade this player for you to fully auto region without actually soldering inside the unit ... we can offer this to readers of this message at the price of £50 including return carriage ... a £15 saving on the website listed price ..... alternativley we sell a diy chip for you to solder in ...

Regarding the locked philips 930 .. it would not have needed the main processor changing .. just the eeprom reprogramming ....
